Of all the top body builders I like him the best. Not really his physique but just him. Although he doesn't have much of a personality or charisma he really comes across as a decent down to earth person. Just the fact that he is still with his high school sweet heart and they seem to be still growing strong tells you something. In a sport that by it's nature seems to turn a lot of decent people into low lifes he really stands out. So many others seem more genetically gifted but Jay's sheer tenacity, consistency and discipline is what put him on top. I hope he continues to win as long as he wants to compete though I hope to one day see Dennis Wolfe get it all together.
No, what put him on top, was that he was being groomed as the All-American", evn from his days when he first appeared on the cover of MuscleMag, with a towel wrap around his waist

Jay, actually one of the big reasons why quality has gone down, him winning the O shows that the standards have gone down soo far, that there are (or were) guys in the amatuer ranks that have better conditioning, muscle qulity, detail, shape, size than him...Phil Heath, Kai, all look better than him, and probably training with more intensity than him (not that that matters), but "they" want Jay to rep the title....
