No but I'm all for deep frying stuff that might otherwise be healthy.  8)  Do you just drop it in some hot fat?

Haven't had kale since I visited the States last year.  Can't find it in shops, can't even find any seeds except online.  The advice I got is that "Red Russian" is a good one.

They are baked...still healthy.

Preheat oven to about 375*
Wash and dry 1 bunch of kale.

Tear the leaves off the thick stems into bite size pieces. Spread out on cookie sheets.

Lightly spray w/canola oil or whatever.

Sprinkle with salt only or add Parmesan, Asiago or your seasonings of choice.

Bake for about 15 minutes, until edges are brown and kale is crispy when moved in pan.

Very delicate and crispy!

If your soil is sandy then the soil PH is probably acidic. Add lime to the soil before planting (3-4 months in advance is ideal).

Sounds like Tapeworm is turning into an Earthworm.

700 SqFt of growing lights

You better git yourself a lawyer, son.  You better get a reeeeal good one.

My parents grew up on a farm, and my ucles still do it... And my dad had a garden with tomatoes, squash, greenbeans,  pumpkins, eggplants. I don't really know that much, but I remember my dad having how there picking tomatoes, green beans, and pumpkins...

Old school.  My folks did a bit of gardening too (not proper farming tho).  We had some great tomatoes when I was a kid.  I heard pumpkins can be hard to grow but that would be a cool crop.

Cheers, Stella.  Sounds good.  Hopefully I can find some seeds and give it a shot.

Yeah, I haven't measured it yet.  I've been finding some bricklayer's lime set up in the beds next to the house tho so I'm hoping that hasn't sent it too far the other way.  I've only got a couple months before transplanting and I want to do some direct sowing soon too, so I better get on with it this week.

Mate, spiders never bothered me but worms, slugs, larvae, etc always gave me the willies.  Guess I'll either be cured or die trying.

If nothing else, maybe I'll meet some hot grannies.

I fucked up with my tomatoes, I think.  I've got 18 24 (I didn't think they'd all come up) a week old because it didn't occur to me to succession plant them.  Dur.  Do cherry tomatoes yield for a long time or should I plant some more in a couple weeks?  I'll probably experiment a bit with these and grow some of them full Aussie sun, some semi-shade, and some upside down with maybe basil on top.

You will have tomatoes coming out of the yinyang :o especially cherry tomatoes.  One plant can yield thousands!  They'll produce nicely for about 2 weeks.  Next time, get different varieties with different growing lengths - ie: Early Girl, beefsteak, roma, etc.

Rats.  I discovered that I didn't plant all my tomato seeds so I'll plant just a couple at a time over the next few months.  And maybe give away some of the current glut before they take over the house like Mr Nobody predicted, haha.

Maybe some others too, in moderation this time.  I a love a da Roma.

Just to be clear - cherry tomato plants produce ooodles - other plants ? probably around 10-15 each.

Have you tried bush beans (yellow & green).  They grow really fast and are awesome roasted.

I'll definitely be trying some green beans.  My calander recommends September-February planting (southern hemisphere) but I'll probably start a few under lights in August since I seem to be having really good luck with germination there.  How some things will transplant remains to be seen, of course.  I've never grown them before so I'll try some bushes and some climbers just for comparison's sake.

I don't think I've had 'em roasted since a childhood Thanksgiving!
