and how the hell is a "true" mma fan somebody that wanted him to not be ranked number 1?

i would think a true mma fan wouldn't want a pro wrestler to be number 1 ::)

it's just proof that no matter how great you are, there is always haters

no fighter is more respected by his peers than Fedor Emelianenko, no fighter commands more respect, they are in awe of him

only tito ortiz has said he's overrated, does he even count?  tito is infamous for being a disrespectful punk that nobody likes

he's the Michael Jordan of mma, the haters will say his washington stint tainted his career ::)

since you care so much about rankings werdum is now number 2, so much for being a can ::)

I will agree, Werdum is a better fighter then Fedor. That's why Fedor lost.
The rankings are accurate.

He should enjoy the ranking while it lasts, after this weekend it will change.

A HIGHLY decorated college wrestler and an outstanding fighter is ranked #1.

Who is currently a Pro Wrestler in the UFC?

Besides, Pro Wrestling is performance/entertainment. Has nothing to do with MMA.

spoken like a true tuf noob

a pro wrestler that's been doing mma for 3 years or so hurts the sports credibility, mma will be looked at the same as pro wrestling as long as he's a a champ, his heel attitude doesn't help either

brock will make dana money, but he kills the sports credibility

you are not a true mma fan, you are a Fedor hater and ufc fanboy

Before the fight Werdum was #10 & you complained that he was a can & shouldn't even be ranked & had no business being in the ring with Fedor. Now he beat Fedor straight up & you say he is a legit #2 and is a better fighter???

Dude I thought through all our discussions that you were becoming more of a grounded fan but now reading all your comments in this thread, you= hopeless.

If Fedor fought the same guys as Velasquez and Carwin did to build their resume's you would claim he is fighting cans.  None of those guys have fought anyone decent.

Velasquez beat a 5 years past his prime nog, carwin beat frank mir LOL.

Add a bunch of other no-namers to their record and their you go.  You could cry forever if Fedor fought the same guys as them

Dude, do yourself a favor and research shit before you open your mouth and come off like an ignorant moron.

No, because I pay attention and I know you are quite business savvy, are quite successful in whatever field you are in, and that its rumored that Dana White takes care of people who mod MMA forums to promote UFC. Thats why it makes sense. And because of the way you argue and fight, like you are some sort of authority on MMA. lol.
I wouldnt put it past Dana, it seems to me like hes trying to make the UFC a sort of scripted "real" version of the WWE. I called it a long time ago, when Brock got sick, I said, watch, hes gonna go out, everyones got think hes done, Dana's gonna make it all dramatic and then hes gonna come back and have this huge "come back" so everyone loves him, and he'll be the undisputed Heavy Champion and all the fans will adore him cause hes the comeback kid. Just my .02.

Bro, I assure you, I have ZERO affiliation with the UFC.  I can't stand Dana White and if you watch me as close as you say you do, You'd know that I think he is a prick.

As for the UFC being scripted...come on ::)  Think of how many mega fights have been lost.  Mir/Lesnar III, Liddell/Crocop, Liddel/Wandy (while in their primes), etc.  If they were scripted, these fights would have happened, and they would have made millions.

As for Brock, it has been proven that he had a serious case of diverticulitis.  In fact, he will be fighting 15lbs lighter this weekend.  I have a feeling that he is not really 100%.

No, you need to do your research bro! AC statements are right on.

Cain fought Cheick & Ben(who is avarage @ best) the rest are all bottom brawlers
Carwin fought Mir, Gonzaga(who is proving to be way overated) & Wellisch (who is also a bottom brawler)

And about your "who has heard of half these guys Fedor has fought" well, I have.
Chris Haseman Is a legit opponent that could end anyone if he is in his right frame of mind.
Bobby Hoffman = legit
Matt Lindland - Please Matt would make you shit your pampers in public if you ever got into it.

He 's right

Fedor fought the worse possible cans when starting his career.  Just look at his first few wins:

*Martin Lazarov - zero wins 2 losses
*Levon Lagvilava - zero wins 2 losses
*Hiroya Takada - one win 3 losses
*Mihail Apostolov - zero wins 1 loss

That's a freaking embarrassment!

Funny how you have all but disappeared from the MMA board after Fedor got demolished by a #10 ranked HW.

The problem I have with Fedor is that he was fighting UFC rejects and #10 ranked HW's to defend his title.

In the end, it bit him in the ass. Not only did he lose, he lost to a #10 ranked guy. That hurts more than just a loss.

Poor Fedor, got exposed this past weekend, and most likely will never recover his top ranking in current polls.

UFC rejects? Didnt Werdum destroy 2 of Dana Whites up and comer prospects everyone was hailing as the next 2 guys to beat Fedor? Werdum holds wins over Vera, Gonzaga (someone Carwin barely made it through once let alone twice!) , Aleks E, Overeem,  and more. STOP trying to brainwash people with this "UFC reject" shit. Werdum, Arlovski, and Silvia were never "rejected" from the UFC you moron lol. Fuck your so fucked up its frustrating.

Never once did I say Werdum was less of a fighter then Fedor.

All I said was rankings wise, Fedor had no business fighting a #10 ranked guy. Regardless of who they are.

I have also called Werdum a UFC reject fresh off a shit-canning.

Again, this does not mean he is not better than Fedor.

You are assuming way too much in my posts.

Werdum was let got by the UFC. That is a UFC REJECT.

Got ii?

Besides, that reject just outed Fedor too. He couldn't cut it in the UFC, but he demolished Fedor.

What does that say?

There is a lot of confusion about my opinion on Fedor.  Let me clarify:

Most consider Fedor the greatest heavyweight & P4P fighter of all time.  Some consider him the best today.  I disagree.  I believe he is one of the best heavyweights of all time.  I don't believe he is a top five P4P.  And I don't believe he is a top 5 heavyweight today.  Why? Because of the 31 fights he has won, more than half were against non-names that no one knows about.  Let's take a look:

1. Has anyone ever heard of these guys or taken a look at their fight records? Martin Lazarov, Levon Lagvilava, Hiroya Takada, Mihail Apostolov, Kerry Schall, Ryushi Yanagisawa, Lee Hasdell, Chris Haseman, Semmy Schilt, Egidijus Valavicius, Yuji Nagata, Naoya Ogawa, Wagner Martins, Hong Man Choi.  These are all people that Fedor beat.  Most of these guys have more losses on their records than they do wins.  Some only have ONE fight on their record!

2. How about two other guys that Fedor beat: Renato Sobral & Matt Linland.  Neither of these guys are heavyweights and Fedor couldn't finish Renato, and he held on to the ropes when Matt (a middle weight) went for the takedown.

3. Who has Fedor beaten in the last couple of years?  Past their prime fighters like Tim Silvia and complete Cans like Hong Man Choi, whose record is 2 wins and 3 losses.

4. Fedor has been heavily criticized for avoiding the top competition in and out of the UFC.  In spite of the UFC offering him more money than anyone ever has, he chose to stay out and continue to fight carefully selected opponents.  He even ducked the Alistar Overreem fight claiming that he didn't want to fight him because he was on steroids.  Alistar has never tested positive.  Fedor had no problem fighting Tim Silvia who has tested positive.

5. Fedor just lost to a guy who was cut from the UFC after being KTFO by Junior Dos Santos.

Bottom line.  Half of Fedor's wins are over no name cans.  He has been ducking top competition for the last three years.  And he just lost to a UFC reject who was ranked #10.  When you add it all up, Fedor was a good heavyweight.  But, the greatest ever?  I don't think so.

WallMart, Burger King, Mcdonals, UFC, its all the same...

Carwin wasn't ranked #1 with those victories either.
So how can you call him over rated?
