You can drink at any age.   You can die at any age.

You cannot legally purchase alcohol from a registered business until you're 21, but there's nothing stopping you from making your own.  Hell, even my 7-year-old knows that leaving the cap off the sparking cider overnight will get the fermentation process started.

What's even more funny is that you can drive a car at 16, possibly crash and kill yourself, your passengers and others in traffic. But you can't drink until you're 21 because you might get a hangover

Due to the alarming number of deaths caused by 18-20 year olds drinking and driving, the federal government gave the states the following ultimatum - raise the drinking age to 21 or receive no federal funds for your highways.  Every state folded without hesitation.  And ultimately, the number of traffic related deaths decreased.  Very few people over 21 think it should be legal for under 21s to drink.  With age comes a certain level of maturity (at least in some people).  That being said, I don't see the big deal in throwing my 18 year old cousin a few beers ata family party, so long as they are not driving.

I understand your anger.  BUT, remember that 18 year old make rash decisions.  When there are more 18 year old drunks out there, there are more incidences of DWI related deaths and the like.   There is reasoning behind this.

Like i said though, i do understand your being upset.
