Its OIL SHALE..not Shell..I was just goin off how i sounded to my dad..but check this out

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_shale
Oil shale, an organic-rich fine-grained sedimentary rock, contains significant amounts of kerogen (a solid mixture of organic chemical compounds) from which liquid hydrocarbons can be extracted. Kerogen requires more processing to use than crude oil, which increases its cost as a crude-oil substitute both financially and in terms of its environmental impact.[1][2] Deposits of oil shale occur around the world, including major deposits in the United States of America. Estimates of global deposits range from 2.8 trillion to 3.3 trillion barrels (450 ื 109 to 520 ื 109 m3) of recoverable oil.[2][3][4][5]

Estonia and China have well-established oil shale industries, and Brazil, Germany, Israel and Russia also utilize oil shale

During the early 20th century, the crude-oil industry expanded. Since then, the various attempts to develop oil shale deposits have succeeded only when the cost of shale-oil production in a given region comes in below the price of crude oil or its other substitutes. According to a survey conducted by the RAND Corporation, the cost of producing a barrel of oil at a surface retorting complex in the United States (comprising a mine, retorting plant, upgrading plant, supporting utilities, and spent shale reclamation), would range between US$70–95 ($440–600/m3, adjusted to 2005 values). This estimate considers varying levels of kerogen quality and extraction efficiency. In order to run a profitable operation, the price of crude oil would need to remain above these levels. The analysis also discusses the expectation that processing costs would drop after the establishment of the complex. The hypothetical unit would see a cost reduction of 35–70% after producing its first 500 million barrels (79ื10^6 m3). Assuming an increase in output of 25 thousand barrels per day (4.0ื10^3 m3/d) during each year after the start of commercial production, RAND predicts the costs would decline to $35–48 per barrel ($220–300/m3) within 12 years. After achieving the milestone of 1 billion barrels (160ื10^6 m3), its costs would decline further to $30–40 per barrel ($190–250/m3).[33][38] Some commentators compare the proposed American oil-shale industry to the Athabasca oil-sands industry (the latter enterprise generated over one million barrels of oil per day in late 2007), stating that "the first-generation facility is the hardest, both technically and economically".[51][52]

But i say if we are sitting on more oil than saudis and politics and foreign policy always seem to play a role in our dealings with those fucks...why not just create American jobs that work out in the long run

Royal Dutch Shell has announced that its in situ extraction technology in Colorado could become competitive at prices over $30 per barrel ($190/m3), while other technologies at full-scale production assert profitability at oil prices even lower than $20 per barrel ($130/m3).[42][53][54] To increase efficiency when retorting oil shale, researchers have proposed and tested several co-pyrolysis processes.[55][56][57][58][59]

A 1972 publication in the journal P้trole Informations (ISSN 0755-561X) compared shale-based oil production unfavorably with the coal liquefaction. The article portrayed coal liquefaction as less expensive, generating more oil, and creating fewer environmental impacts than extraction from oil shale. It cited a conversion ration of 650 litres (170 U.S. gal; 140 imp gal) of oil per one ton of coal, as against 150 litres (40 U.S. gal; 33 imp gal) of shale oil per one ton of oil shale.[26]

Ill give you that..and i could listen to the message too...Dont get me wrong, i dont think Obama is doing everything right, i hate how he watered down Healthcare (should have been universal but something is better than nothin), Didnt end the afgan war (what the fuck are we there for) , and the gitmo thing. But I still think we needed the Stim and with out it, we would be fucked worse than we are now. Auto bail out...yeah...cant imagine a world without chevy...Supreme court...i loved it...get some diversity in there.

But what im saying is this. Bush got a crazy surplus when he took office, STUPID MONEY....He fucked off 911 and compounded it with Iraq...in less than a year fucked up everything we had going (money wise)...Shit...gas was like 1.12 when he took office, that shit was 4.60 when he left...now i aint sayin 911 was his fault but there is mucho evidence that says there was information about it....So he fucks off soliders and money in 2 wars (still dosent find bin laden. gets on a boat and says mission accomplished....AND GETS RE-ELECTED......Thats what im saying bro...and bros like 3333 who create the "sky is falling" atmosphere around everything, use extreme hyperbole to describe issues and then turn around and endorse SARAH PALIN...come on man.. im only human. theres only a certian amount a man can put up with.
I think that obama did the right thing agenda wise on health care I vehimently disagree with it but he passed a VERY VERY flawed billed that will likely end up costing us money but what it will do for his agenda is force us to fix it down the road and thus keeps health care reform moving foreward.

a stimulus needed to happen but not in the form of the govt throwing money at ppl, they need to provide incentives for spending and growth not money to do so like the discount rate at the FED being .25 or .5%

something like providing tax breaks to companies that hire new employees, not giving the company money to hire employees b/c as soon as that money is gone shaft ppl are getting fired that is if the money is used for its original purpose which is highly doubted...and then you have to print money which is GOING to lead to inflation sooner or later...

not to be a dick bro but youre guilty of the same thing saying that ppl act like everything was cool before obama got elected and then it went to shit...

things may have seemed great during clintons years but the roots to 9/11 can be traced back to clinton years, some of the roots to the financial crises can be traced back to clintons years...

see I dont understand your logic bro you condemn him for not following intel on 9/11 but condemn him for following intel on iraq??? Im not arguing that he was right b/c God knows he wasnt but dont condemn him for not following intel in one instance and following it in another...

How do you know who is illegal?

read what i wrote - legal or illegals, i chase off dirtbags.  I do not give a shit where youre from, if you have 'papers'.

If you are hanging out on my street, and you dont live there, your ass needs to leave.
if you live there and are up to shady dealings, your ass needs to have police out and other pressures til you move
if you live there and disrupt the lives of others, your ass has to go.

kick out the assholes, it's that simple.  I cannot fathom any world where i'd just sit there and complain about a line of illegals on my street taunting hard working americans.  i'd call in INS, report them for drugs, buy and release dogs, initiate a response that would have their asses outta there.

If youre a dirtbag on my street, disrupting or engaged in illegal behavior or making things tough for eveyrone else....
you can bet your ass I'll find a way to get you outta here.  And every american should have this mindset.

Who the fuck said anything about a plant...
And no i dont defend Obama on everything...i just dont blame him for everything or Praise him for everything.

Again..i will tell you what i dont like about obama for the like 20th time...Bro...Healthcare reform was wack because it didnt cover enough...it was watered down. Gitmo needs to be closed and troops from over seas need to go..I hated how he endorsed offshore drilling...and i said it when he said it...that was wack as shit...I never start threads about Obama ..like i never started anything about Bush. I dont look at shit with a partisan slant. Im a scientist by nature and trade... i dont have my opinion about something before i read the facts or consider all factors involved...nor do i trust every writer that puts pen to paper or voice to microphone...I just dont.,..I never understood this politics thing....and i still dont to some degree... Meg whitman drops hella millions of her own money to take a job paying a couple hundred grand...just dont know

Mal's a good guy, I just think he is still wrapped up in the emotional component of the Obama presidency.  When you seperate the emotional from actual, just like the Krs interview said, you quickly understand that Obama is nothing more than a hack, a shill, and a figurehead for the NWO and financial interests that put him there.

YOURE MISSING THE POINT!!!

how do you or anyone know they are illegal?

how will the police know if they are unable to inquire about it?

We have ppl lining up at the corner gas stations here in houston too 240 that doesnt mean they are illegal one would be a smart man to bet that they are but if even the cops cant ask how do we find out?

You are the one missing the point hombre.

At the neighborhood level, every single one of us chases every single dirtbag off our streets.

At the employment level, every single employer chases every single illegal employee (due to them being scared shitless of huge fines).

This means the only remaining illegals are the quiet, law abiding ones who aren't stealing any American jobs.  Not too many of them, are there?  ;)

What you don't understand is that many areas exist that are all illegals and overrun by them.

240 & 33 rolling down the street with shotguns and glocks is not going to work.

Sounds like the guy who is against showing his ID will be asking the strangers on his street to do just that.

Remember - I'm not about cleaning up 'illegals'.  I'm about chasing out dirtbags.

240 & 333386 delivering a multi-pronged approach to booting their asses might work.  My brother is like a skinnier version of you - he's bald, has about 20 patriotic tattoos, and carries an AR15 to check his mail.  He and I got the old vets in the trailer park to chase out dirtbags who had run the place for years.  I moved there (broke for college, split with girl, and dad had an empty trailer for us).

Within a week, I realized how much I hated the dirtbags.  So at the community monthly meeting, we talked about what we could do about it.  We started roaimg the park at night in packs, doing laundry late at night, gathering intel on who was doing what.  We started calling the police in groups, so they'd respond faster.  We started carrying a bit more open, legal but scary.  The old vets started hunting racoons at night, and capping them with a 22 for all to hear.

The groups of people hanging in cars, making deals, moving girls.... they stopped.  They were tired of hillbillies with implied threats, and the law certainly on our side.  They left.

I'd do the same damn thing today if it happened on my block again.  Occasionally I'll see someone who doesn't belong, I'll make my presence known, and let them know without saying a word that Error 404, Prey not found ;)

He's quite amusing. He doesn't want to show his ID but thinks breaking the legs of illegals before deporting them would be a better solution.

Re-read, berz...

I don't want to see ID, I don't care who is illegal or who is not.

I care about chasing out criminals.  I would much rather chase off one 'legal' american lawbreaker, than ten quiet illegals who never break the law on my block.  Some are illegal, some are not - I care not.  I only care to chase out scumbags.

You chase out the "law-abiding", more peaceful illegals by having the govt fine employers who hire illegals.

I don't care about IDs.   I don't care about nationality.  I care about having a quiet, peaceful block.  And if every one of you did the same - our streets would be safe, and crime wouldn't be an issue.

Who the heck are you Wyatt Earp now?

of course not.  cops told us what was legal and what was not.  we followed the law.  police started arriving in the park from both exits at once to make sure no strange cars got away.  it was more of a teamwork thing with the police who were happy to clean up the area.

Hey, you guys don't have to agree with it.  Maybe keeping your head down and hoping "the govt" will solve crime in your neighborhood will work.  we didn't feel like waiting for that.

LOL sorry hoss but youre not the law which is precisely why we need to give the officers the opportunity to inquire about citizenship...

its your right to make sure your house is safe its not your right to run down the street and harrass ppl standing at the corner gas station...thats the police's duty and you want to limit their ability to determine who is and who isnt breaking the law...congrats  ::) ::) ::)

Regarding the oil shale Mal talked about.  It's not a good idea IMO.  When you're scrapping the bottom of the barrel and having to destroy more of the earth both in production and capturing of a resource it's time to find another energy source.
