I got membership at 24 fitness.

High protein, low carbs,lots of veggies & fish oil, full-body workouts, compound movements, little rest between excersise/sets, followed by some HIIT and then some low intensity cardio.\Atleast 4x/week.
Oh yeah: discipline and persistence will get any-body lean.

Excellent advice from Dawakaman.

A few suggestions if you don't mind. Do not change any part of that protocol by following the "expert" advise you may encounter from the gym salesman (hiding under the title of instructor) or fellow gym members.  Who for some mistaken idea, think they know everything about everything concerned with BB'ing. There will be a lot of those type's a 24 Fitness and other spa style gym's. Also try backing away from taking any unneeded supplement that is supposed to be the new super duper fat burning crap. HIIT= High-intensity interval training - (( Google that shit, or even use the search function on the boards. Lots of stuff out there about it)

I was a rather larger guy myself.

6'3 , 310lb, 44 waist size pants.. and only at 23 years old. Poor eating habits, larger unwarranted plate sizes and just the static life style of most people my age.
 
After spending a bit of time reading different diets, and training logs on this site and others, I've manged to drop a lot of my weight and improve my overall health.

Currently I've gotten myself down to a respectable 223 in about 8 months.

 Just as the first post said. - High protein, low carbs. I hit the weights at my local gym ( old school, 1980's weight sets, no staff, honor system, $20 a month membership) 5 or even six times a week right after I get off work ( midnights) cut rest time between sets to keep things pumping and really just give it my all.

Dropping all that weight and really seeing changes occurring kept edging me on. Soon enough I had confidence to apply for military service, having always fearing I wouldn't be fit enough.

I leave in December for basic having passed all testing and meeting all requirements.
