I'm not being shitty bay, I'm sincerely curious. Are you offended by the word "homo"?

I got in serious trouble for calling a classmate a homo (who I knew wasn't really gay) back in middle school.
What do you think? Such words are not offensive when they are used by friends and supporters (though friends and supporters almost never use that kind of language). I doubt the gays and lesbians in your own family would think kindly of you if you referred to them that way.
Most often such words are used by those seeking to cause injury and humiliation or to set themselves apart as somehow superior. As it happens, my self-esteem is beyond the reach of such insults so I do not feel personally diminished by them, but I understand why someone else would be and to that extent I think it is unwelcome.
As an aside, a few weeks ago I got a PM from a poster here who had apparently “found Jesus” (or some other deity). He sent me a note to apologize for all the homophobia and hateful rhetoric he has spewed in previous posts over the years. Perhaps he
had found god… maybe he was simply growing up… maybe he realized he was, himself, gay? Who knows? Who cares? It’s not as if I was paying any attention to him anyway...

By the way, have you figured out what to do with our life yet?
I dont really know what to do with my life. I love to argue, and if I could make up my mind and set a goal I would reach it.
