People should be allowed to compete if they want to. Most promoters will accept the entry fees so that is never a problem. Goodrum is a bodybuilder whether the flotsam like it or not. Ron isn't fair to Melvin and this dude deserves his blue stars.

To be fair, Goodrum presented on stage in reasonable condition. Has Keith ever got up on stage in a contest? It takes a lot of guts to enter a bodybuilding contest. I give Goodrum credit for that. So what if he places last every time. I have won contests and when it is all just a memory it really doesn't matter if you won or not. Guys that don't win retain lots of motivation to train hard whereas winners often give up serious training.

Wow I thought you were smarter than this.  i mean at least you act like it.  First, if you can find just one, just one post where I say I am a bodybuilder I will leave here and fly you to Hawaii.  Are you getting as dumb as Goodrum, Basile.  And I have stepped on stage and I have a National and World Championship title.  Excuse me I would like to see your resume.  I have been on stage and never taken under a 3rd place (once 4th)in more than double the contests you and Goodrum have been in put together.  God don't be stupid.  Goodrum is ignorant and you know it.  Please don't get me going on the phone calls you make to me in the middle of the night and how you talk about Goodrum.  Keep me out of your posts if you are going to talk shit about me.

By the way, it takes as much if not more guts to get on an armwrestling stage.  When you armwrestle you put your macho on stage and your strength and reputation.  Smaller guys can beat bigger guys all the time.  I put on a show once at a high school (South High) in So Cal.  There was a 220 lb. band member who went up against a 270 lb football star who had a full ride to UCLA.  This guy was awesome looking.  Well in short the band guy beat him.  Well he became an instant hero and was featured in the school paper and then the Daily Breeze (a local So. Cal paper).  Bodybuilding is hard and it sure does takes balls.  Even in my best shape at 247 and after Joe Gold encouraged me to enter shows I refused because I didn't have the balls.  So props to bodybuilders.  But stepping on stage does NOT make you an instant bodybuilder.  Goodrum does NOT train or live the life of a bodybuilder.  his body shows and proves it as does his own admittance of how he trains.  If I got drunk and fucked up on ludes and took my pants off and paid the promoter $60 entry fee and stepped on stage does that make me a bodybuilder.  Exactly!  Well that is what Goodrum does. He is NOT a bodybuilder

Keith, I thought you would misinterpret what I posted about getting on stage. I meant as a bodybuilder, shaved, oiled and in posing trunks. Takes a lot of nerve to do your first contest. A different type of courage from competing in strength events such as arm wrestling. I am not comparing them at all but I have competed in some arm wrestling, weight lifting, powerlifting and grip contests.

Whether anyone on Getbig likes Goodrum is not important. He is a bodybuilder because he competes as one. Yes, he has a long way to go with those long arms to develop impressive size.

Fact is Goodrum is smart enough to know how to stir people up so he knows how to press buttons and get reactions. He just isn't as smart as he thinks he is and that is where the entertainment begins.

Like I said, if I walked on a BB stage, posed horribly this Saturday and obviously take last place does this make me a bodybuilder.  According to you it does.  In fact I would eat a nice warm Krispy Kreme donut in my posing routine.  Give me my trophy and I can brag about taking last place

Not everyone who enters contests are bodybuilders. Occasionally some newcomers are encouraged to compete but they are not bodybuilders. Goodrum is a bodybuilder. He has the vocabulary and is motivated to do poses and the rest of the stuff muscleheads do. The truth is that as bad as Goodrum looks at the moment he probably looks better than either of us.

So if I started dropping terms around such as 'negatives, carb loading, dialling in, super sets, Smith machines, dips', train for 3 months to get back in shape, shave, don a thong and step on a stage I'm a bodybuilder? No, I'm a guy that fucks around in the gym, never get anywhere (like Goodrum), but because I'm willing to step on stage and be oblivious to being a Sat afternoon laughing stock before the REAL bodybuilders come on, I'm a bodybuilder? C'mon old fella, I always enjoyed your posts as they usually tend to be well thought out and articulated. You're just posting a lot of shit now.

When it comes to Goodrum Basille is blinded by lust,  he wants to mock Melvin but he wants to love him also.  Pretty fucked up.

It is typical fare on Getbig is for participants in threads to end up attacking each other. Don't ask me why this happens but there are a lot of angry dudes here. Endless supply of hostile flotsam.

Goodrum deserves a lot of what he gets but not a wholesale tarring from so many and their gimmicks. As a gym owner I encourage everyone who wants to improve and that includes the delusional and simple souls who dream about winning titles.

Internet contests are a joke. To me, it is like some joker winning at Fantasy Football and claiming he was MVP of the Superbowl ::)
Just because you scored 8 TD's playing Madden 2010, doesn't mean you can play in the NFL hehehe.

Vince did that poswdown at some contest expo against Billy Guns...and lost hehe. But hey at least it was a live contest ( of sorts).
Why not posedown at an expo at least ?

That wasn't really a contest Howard.  I got paid 1500 to do that thing at the Olympia.  I'm not sure how much Billy got for that event.  That was just a free vacation with some cash on the side, Howard.  Don't see how I could lose that one...... ;D

And this "so called challenge" is a waste of time because we all know he's not going to complete it.  He'll make up some excuse and go into some silly tirade or maybe go and threaten another pre-schooler...... ::)

Goodrum,  I honestly think part of the reason you "hit a nerve" with some of these guys is because they would never compete in actual live contest. Many of these internet forum legends seem too insecure to take their shirt off in public, never mind get up on stage in posing trunks.
You may not be that great a bodybuilder, but , you do the best with what you have . You go into a contest and are not ashamed if you don't look like Mr Olympia up there. 99% of those active in bodybuilding are more like YOU ( and me) then Ronnie or Jay .

Granted ,it is kinda true that you bring some heat on yourself BUT I think you enjoy all parts of this internet game.

ANYONE who works out and does some form of diet to build muscle is my definition a bodybuilder.
If you compete in any BB contest , you are a competetive bodybuilder.
How good someone is at something is a different matter.
If you want to say Goodrum is a lousy BB, fine, that is your opinion.
BUT, if the man trains and competes as a BB, he is a BB.

LOL, true enough, but seriously if someone competes as a bodybuilder, wears trunks on stage and poses they ARE A BODYBUILDER.
Granted, they can suck donkey balls and look like a bag of doodoo, but doing something is reality, how well is another matter

Hey disturbia , here is an idea you might like?
Why not simply post your pics in 137 days ( back, front and side shots) as a means to motivation  for ya.
Maybe post some every 30 days to show your progress. If Goodrum or anyone one else wants to make a virtual pose for pose challenge , then we will vote, give feedback, make cracks, whatever.

Seriously, if you want to post some pics to show your gains, that is cool.
If Goodrum wants to have a virtual posedown that would be fun.
BUT, my real pt is, that posting some bond money and getting too serious about some on line challenge is kinda silly.

My dead dad looks better than right now.  At least I know I look like shit.  And he is NOT a newcomer.  You are way off on this one.  And what does having the "vocabulary" of a bodybuilder mean and why does that qualify you as one.  Butterbean has a great vocabulary and I don't think anyone would mistake him as a bodybuilder.

Wow maybe I will get fucked up drunk get in a thong and enter a contest.  Then I will be a bodybuilder.  So with your reasoning, I am already a bowler, golfer, basketball player, tennis player, volleyball player, dart player and basically anything else I have done.  I even played 4 games of Polo so I guess I am a Polo player.  I can't you or Basile thinking that is all it takes to say you are a Bodybuilder.  If I was a "real" bodybuilder I would be pissed off.

You are missing the point here.
For example, if I was out on a golf course, playing golf, I would be an actual GOLFER.
However, since I suck , NOBOODY would mistake me for a PGA pro.
Just because someone is doing something doesn't mean they are doing it well.
Yes, you can compete as a bodybuilder without looking like you have much muscle.
EVERY day, plenty of ugly, stinky peoiple have sex and we sure as hell would NOT want to see it in a porno. REgardless of how bad they look , they are still having sex. hehehe
