Yeah, reminds me of those football players in college just just get a trophy for working so hard just to put ball in the end zone, with 95% of those players getting injured, whacked with no chance at ever making any money.

Much how do those football players get for playing in those championship games?  I think the schools get about $3 million each for that game?  Shouldnt they give me some money for playing except just a scholarship that thousands of students get.

Point is, you compete because you want to see how good you can get, and perhaps, got some contracts and sponsors.

As for the costs, the venue, insurance, people, hotels, judges, per diums, airfare, and much more gets very expensive.  You need to shell out this amount before you can expect anything back in return.

HAHAH, no, BCS games gets the schools between 10-15 million and the champ game around 25 million.  All endorsement money.  Plus ticket sales and such get split.

The road I pave is for the current and future pros, not amateurs....giving them more when they get there is the incentive.  Amateurs dont need motivation, other than what to expect IF they can make the grade....just as I did
That's alot of time in summer school

G-string and others, the main difference between amateur and Pro sports is that in pro sports you get PAID. So hell no, I think it's a horrible idea in amateur bodybuilding, fitness, figure or bikini to get paid.  You do that when you're good enough to.  Now I have heard of amateurs guest posing and not too many of them get the opportunity to do that.

Lindsey and Manion are businessmen and when you are in business, the point is to make money whether it's for profit or non-profit.  My only concern is to ensure the shows are judged fairly.

You have to know what your priorities are.  You can't put a price on the fame and glory of being Mr USA or Mr Universe or Mr Olympia.

thats why you will one day win that title vince ;)

i think the only difference that i would like to see is every pro bodybuilding should get paid something from the ifbb each year. its like pro sports, you may be a bench warmer but you get PAID for really doing nothing. there are alot of pros that the money they make isnt from the sport but from outside bb.

I agree 100%. There should be a "league minimum" for actively competing athletes.

520 competitors x $150 entry fee = $78,000 from the competitors alone. Now add the gate takings. Probably over $100,000. And the winners get a stupid trophy.
Here is the deal . It takea lot of expense to put on a national level NPC event. A top promotor like Jon Lyndsey took many years to work his way up as a promotor before he made decent money putting on a contest. Most new NPC sanctioned shows take a few years to before they make a profit. Unlike football or baseball the sport of BB has little in way of mainstream media coverage which hurts them for as and sponsor $$.
I have promoted, judged and competed in many BB contests. I even tried putting on a regional natty contest a couple times and LOST $$ hehe.

A few in bodybuilding do ok and make a buck, but most break even or scrape by. Only a handful or pro contests remain viable and stick around yr after yr. The figure and new bikini class increase the number of entrants by quite a bit, but I wish it was only male/female bodybuilding.

You have to know what your priorities are.  You can't put a price on the fame and glory of being Mr USA or Mr Universe or Mr Olympia.

Your priorities are evident by your lack of success in business, job skills and your so called bodybuilding.  I imagine a post-it note on your fridge that reads

My Priorities (by Vince Goodrum)
1. get Vissy off every morning
2. suck Vissy after dinner to save on toothpaste and mouthwash
3. hide the condoms from Vissy so another can't come off inside me
4. make this Sundays weekly Bukake Party the best ever
5. don't clean the trailer
6. don't forget monthly douche to clean out, just in case (not for Vissy though, I still like it dirty)
7. go on Getbig and pretend I am a bodybuilder and personal trainer
8. teach Vissy how to aim so he doesn't get it all over the pillows
9. keep searching for more online certifications
No Worries 4 me

+ they get on TV and millions of people watch them, people buy shirts with their name on it, I'm sure it's more of a ego thing than anything else. What does a NPC guy get?  a offer from some schmoe to beat off on him in a public toilet for a $100
