Case in point...you are strong and can do lots of lbs on concentration curls, but your arms look shit.  I'd rather do 30-40 lbs on concentrations curls, with less chance of injury, and have arms like Serge's than to know that I could do 120 lbs.

I do not go above 70lbs now on barbell curls. I can easily curl 80lb DB's but don't see the point nor do I enjoy it.

This is the last known pic of of Method101 I think. He said his arms were much bigger than this before he went to timeout. But back on topic I had a friend that could squat like 500 lbs around weighed like 170 he thighs looked like sticks. Neuromuscular efficiency I think its called where as a peson is able to use more of the nervous system and brain to recruit more muscle fibers in action.

You also need volume....its another form of overload and it increases workload capacity.

I try to keep my muscles under tension for a minute holding peak contraction for 2 seconds per rep and going for sets of 10-20 reps on everything. Low reps with tons of momentum do nothing for my body. I loss my appetite, and size. Everything goes flat. Serge maybe have used light weights, but his workouts were brutal. 10 sets of 20 rep bench presses aren't easy. You really have to go through the pain barrier.

  Doing a set of barbell curls with 95lbs peak contraction, slowly for 15 (lasting over a minute) is a hell of a lot harder then swinging 125 for 8 reps for example (lasting 20 seconds). Have some muscular endurance, it helps you a lot more in the real world.
