Here is my bottom line on this thing.
1. The POFS Imam, piss be upon him, has a technical, limited legal right to build the mosque at the site.
2. The overall issue has nothing to do with freedom of religion since no one is calling for a ban on the practice of islam. This is expecially the case since there are hundreds of mosques in NYC as it is.
3. The Imam is picking the site to offend, as a sign of conquer, and to provoke the families of the 9/11 victims as well as the nation as a whole.
4. Those of us who grew up in NYC and know the area well know that the site is in direct proximity to the WTC since not only is two blocks in NYC nothing distance wise, but the landing gear of one of the planes hit this very building where the damn mosque is going.
5. Liberals who scream and bitch about separation of church and state obviously love the idea of a marriage between mosque and state since they have been utterly silent about the state Department paying for this imam to travel the ME to promote this thing. Additionally, liberals have been silent on the State Dept. paying for mosques, which trluy exposes the blatant hypocrisy of 99% of self labeled liberals.
6. The financing of this mess is extremely dubious. The Imam is seeking funds from overseas to fund this crap. Don't we have a right to know where the money is coming from? who is paying for the ongoing operation costs once this thing is built. There are no muslims living in the finncial district in sufficient numbers to pay the operationg costs of this thing. So where is the money coming from? We ask homeowners to prove the origination of the deposits they put on home purchases. Are we saying that this imam should be given more lee way than americans taxpayers?
7. If the Imam was truly interested in reaching out and garnering sympathy and positive feelings from americans, he would have moved this mosque in accordance with the wishes of Gov. Patterson and others. The fact that there are literally thousands of other vacant building all over the city and this imam insists on placing this thing in the closest proximity possible to WTC tells me everything I need to know about his intentions.
8. Just because someone has a legal right to do something does not make it right overall. I have a right to call Obama a dirty black, Jews kikes, Asians zips, etc etc, however, that does not make it the right thing to do. What about placing a shrine to the KKK at MLK's gravesite? Just because it is techinically right, does not make it ok to do.
9. Muslims insisting on this mess should not be surprised when most americans consider them no different that the Westboro Baptist crew. Sure they have a right to do it, but that does not mean the rest of us have to respect them or not condem and damn them daily.
10. Obama really stepped in it with his stupid assed remarks at the dinner and his half assed attempt at back tracking from the the next day. He just caused more dems to lose in Novemeber.
11. This Imama is from from moderate. He refuses to condemn hamas, refuses to discuss interfait dialogue, refuses to open up his books or plans, refuses to discuss the source of financing, refuses to hear the pleas of the families of the victims of 9/11. Does a supposed holy person with the interests of alleged healing and good motives act like this? No!
11. This mosque is going to be a cause of consternation and protest for years to come.
12. Bloomberg is a fool on this, almost as idiotic as his blaming the tea partyfor the Times Square bomber.
