Surprisingly, it was 100% positive. That has to be the first time that's ever happened to bodybuilders.
Not really!! ESPN used to have bodybuilders on a regular basis. Of course, the shows came on the air in the wee hours of the morning, except for the occasional airing of FLEX Magazine workout and Bodyshaping. Lee Haney used to have his workout show on ESPN, too.
And, of course, when Vince McMahon created the WBF, his bodybuilders were featured on WWF SuperStars and on "Regis and Kathie Lee".
In fact, in 1992, they had a week-long special on "Family Feud", which was "WWF vs. WBF". Each side was playing for a charity. Team WWF was for the Special Olympics; Team WBF, for the Sloan-Kettering Foundation.
Team WWF: Bobby "The Brain" Heenan (captain), Sensational Sherri, Jacques "The Mountie" Rougeau, Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart, and Brian Nobbs of the "Nasty Boys".
Team WBF: WBF Champion Gary Strydom (captain); Cameo Kneuer, "The Future" Jim Quinn, "Major Guns" Eddie Robinson, and "The Giant Killer" Danny Padilla".
