Old News: BB.com deleting negative reviews

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So yea I reviewed a few products I tried, and one was the notorious Pink Magic. Anyways, I believe I have it a semi low review, didnt curse, didnt bash, didnt flame, etc....

Well yesterday Pink Magic had a 8.5 rating. Today its 9.2.

I mean yea i understand its a business and all, and that shady sht happens everywhere we look, but this def dissapointed me. I never did buy a product due to reviews since I know most of them are fake, this strategy they are using is BS. Basically fixing reviews so a certain product is ranked high to attract uneducated buyers.

I guess a few companies weren't appreciative of people not being impressed by their shitty supplements they bought. Bob Chic; what did you know and when did you know it? This will be all over CNN any minute anyway.

i'm sorry, if you're over the age of 19 and still buy supplements other than perhaps protein powders, I don't think you should have graduated with a highschool diploma.  They are soo unnecessary.

I think he first started in drug tested contests. He doesn't look too juiced to me, just has a great physique.
Look, I could care less if he eats goat balls dipped in donkey  sweat.
It doesn't take all that much juice to make an under 200 lb bodybuilder look great , if he is a genetic freak, with great shape, c'mon

People have accused me of writing biased reviews.  That's odd considering I only write half of the reviews on my site and the other half I pay writers to write with the explicit instructions to be honest even if they think the product is terrible.  There are many examples on my website of products which are expensive but were given very poor reviews.

This relates to Bodybuilding.com - In 2007 Will asked me if I was available to write two reviews a week for BB.com.  He gave me the same explicit instructions I gave my writers which is that the main consideration is honesty.  Here are some of my reviews that Will published on BB.com [although Will is allowed to publish all of them, he is busy and not all of them get published]:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mattc.htm

While I will not get into the details, I was contacted by a company rep to lie in a review for one of their products but I did not do that and I can positively state that BB.com made it very clear that honesty is the main thing they wanted for the site.

I'm just wondering why the hell do people read these single user experiences while everyone should know about placebo effect and different ever changing factors.

i'm sorry, if you're over the age of 19 and still buy supplements other than perhaps protein powders, I don't think you should have graduated with a highschool diploma.  They are soo unnecessary.

People create the need inside their heads, thinking it will give them the edge.  ::)

Some products do work though.  Creatine and protein work and beta-alanine is not simply a placebo.  I do agree that a lot of products are completely unnecessary though although even the placebo effect is worthwhile to achieve.

Sounds more like astroturfing and bbing.com's complacency in not cracking down on "gimmick" accounts.

High ratings help the whole bbing ecosystem - including bbing.com.

So if and item has high ratings...it sells well...it has $$ to buy ads on bbing.com...gives $$ to bbing.com...no reason for bbing.com to try and curtail astroturfing...users forget past astroturf fast and/or aren't sure what to believe (gossip of possible astroturf, or the positive reviews).

This happens in FB (Farmville and the like are the biggest FB ad buyers), Google, etc...any ad-based ecosystem. If the company selling ads can help (directly, or more likely indirectly and/or unspoken) the companies buying ads, they will.

Places like Consumer Reports that have subscriptions can be more self-reliant. And because users pay, astroturf would hurt CR a lot more.

You, the consumer, get what you "pay" for: a free site might have a few shady reviews...a for-pay site will have even less.

I felt that SuperPump250 was effective, maybe average or a little above average as far as NO products are concerned, but I could not handle the gastrointestinal side effects.  The same goes for at least two of my friends who used it.  We all had to literally stop using it and give away what we had left.  I might give it a try again but I remember that particular side effect being unbearable.  I hope Gaspari comes out with a flavoured beta-alanine product.  It is a supplement that is basically impossible to screw up and I think BA is better than NO anyway.  I will definitely stop by the Gaspari booth at the Olympia.  I think Gaspari Nutrition is a solid company.
