I think that the spaceage straight jackets used to bench with now are silly and absurd.
The best raw benchers do a tad over 700 lbs and with a triple ply straight jacket they do 900-1000.
They do aprox 1/3 more wt on avg with a top level shirt.
What's next? Put a heavy duty shock absorber on a guys  chest and try to bounce a semi truck off him before we crush him?

What about squat and deadlifting suits?

Shirts are here to stay.They have been in the sporet for twenty five years and are going to remain in the sport.If they are so easy to use,put one on,break all the records.

2. Obviously these men are quite stong and can lift impressive wts without any shirt.
It does take technique and I don't do bench contests. I do know that any pc of equipment that adds a good 30-40% is way beyond basic support.
Like it or NOT it gives a large % increase of ARTIFICIAL aid to a lifter.

Why do you resort to name calling.
NOBODY is saying that guys who lift with support gear are pussies. Why do you feel the need to make fun of those who lift raw?
I honestly think most of the best gear support lifters would be the top raw lifters.
Only thing that would change is the winning lift would be a good 30-40% less.
Plus, the equipment companies wouldn't get to sell their stuff. The lifters could save $$.

I am not that big of a guy and my max bench was around 400lbs. I had my powerlifter friends talk me into tryin to bench with a bench shirt...After a few lifts I got use to it and wow I was all the sudden able to bench over 500lbs....No way I could ever bench 500lbs raw the shirts are ridiculous...I don't think they should be allowed
