Oh, he can do more than I can.  Best I ever got was about 17...arms are way too long....... ;D.  Bench press sucks for me so I use dumbbell presses, weighted push ups and dips to train my chest.

Note to self, avoid the following exercises:
Dumbell presses
weighted push ups
dips

What is more embarrasing:

(a) Saying you can do 10 reps with 225 and posting a video doing 10 reps with 225
(b) Saying you can do 30 reps with 225 and posting a video doing zero good reps with 225?

Taking 10 reps off? You need to go back and review what muscles are recruited during a bench press. I have a feeling "guru" is a self label...hahahaha!

I have done a strict bench press with 410 pounds. Managed to get 18 with 225. So I doubt Goodrum could do 17 reps. Ross might get 20 if he is lucky.

I post on another board where this phenomenon is common.  Everyone can deadlift 405 for reps but can't bench 185 ???

I think squat is the lift most people lie about, because they don't do it, they equate 1000lb leg presses to a 500 pound squat........bench is second in lies about weight.......since hardly anybody ever deadlifts we don;t have to worry about the liars there.....most people that deadlift tell the truth.

There's only two people I'm going to call Coach and they taught physical fitness and weight lifting while I was in high school....nothing personal as far as that's concerned, just think I should use it for the folks that actually taught me.

I bet you those two people have told you never to mention there names.  They want nothing to do with you.  You are one of their top embarrasements.  

Now, this Ross guy I am convinced either;

1.  lives in North Carolina by Goodrum,
2.  grew up near Goodrum,
3.  drank some of the same water Goodrum drinks,
4.  swallowed a load from Goodrum
5.  or all of the above.,

No way in hell can this guy be serious.  No one (but Goodrum) is this delusional with his lifting or measurements.  His 20" arms are on par with Goodrum's 16" arms.  Those reps on the bench were either a joke or he trains under Goodrum (no pun intended).  I gotta tell you this wannabe Guido would get laughed out of a real gym where guys who really lift are.  First he comes on here and lies about his business and now his lifts.  Plus he actually videos his lifts thinking they are good.  Wow, this guy isn't as stupid or delusional as Goodrum but he sure is on the same team (so to speak)

he has a legit almost 700lbs deadlift, and 585-600lbs squat.....the dude just cant figure the bench out....its all mental to him......he can do 135lbs for 36 reps...but you put a second plate on and he freezes up...

Bench, I got 20 a few years back, funny last week we were cleaning out our closet and I found my old workout journal from 2003 the day I tore my pec and I was on my 6th rep with 405 on Feb 19, 2003 and I weighed 244lbs on that day.

I think among regular folks and lower level lifters bench is the most lied about lift. Some of it is out right lies, other times, it's either basing it on a machine lift or basing it on some old conversion chart their football coach used in 1984. Worst cases, it's a combination of both.

Among experienced lifters, it's the squat. From what I've seen, it isn't even the weight, so much as the depth. I've seen plenty of guys that could support 500-700lbs on their back, alasthe squat is simply unlocking then relocking their hips after a inch or two.

As far as Erstling's bench presses, I think most will agree that a good repped bench should look like this:

If his #225 bench form is close to that form for even half the amount of reps he originally mentioned  , I'd give him credit for being decently strong.

i have flat benched over 500lbs raw back in the day for around 4 reps.....the day i tore my pec was with a plate, and a quarter aside on a goddamn hammer strength incline ;D

The internet is great for motivation. Too bad we didn't have something like this in the old days. There are always blokes out there claiming that they can do this or that. I don't understand why some have to exaggerate. At least these wannabes can demonstrate their power via videos. It is just a matter of time before some enterprising dudes substitute fake plates here and there to make themselves look like supermen.
