I was referring to the benching of 500 without ever touching a drug.  That NEVER happened.  Leverone is in fantasy land if he believes it (which I think he does as people fabricate most of their memories).

Well I benched 500 on the button at a bodyweight of 247 around 1982 or 83.  I had many witness's at the original World Gym.  That was a goal I set for myself was to bench twice my bodyweight.  I was 100% drug free and didn't even think about taking drugs.  I smoked or drank alcohol.  No way was I going to do drugs.  In 1984 or so I did start selling them cause there was good money going to Tijuana and buying steroids and bringing them back.  Yet I still didn't do it.  I had that same goal when I was 300.  The most I ever benched was 585 at 300 the day before I left for the world championships. I was on 200mg of Test Cyp then.  I took 1 cc of it a day everyday for 6 months.  I failed the 600 bench which was my fsault cause I think I did to many warm up sets.  I did 585 pretty easy.  Easy enought to try 600 and it fell like a rock.  I never ever tried it again.  My goal was to do it before the world championships.  After that I quit trying.  I quit taking roids and never touched them again ever.  In 1993 or so I inclined the most I ever did and that was 505.

The only reason I took roids had nothing to do with weightlifting.  The very first armwrestling event I did was the California State Championships at Old Towne Mall in Torrance.  I had no idea what I was doing.  My girlfriend at the time talked me into it.  I ended up beating 3 world champions and actually beat this one big fucker named Tim Tyree.  But, 5 minutes after our match I was called up for a rematche with him.  I was so tired he beat me in one second.  So I left cussing out in the parking lot and Ric Zumwalt who ended up co starring with Stallone in Over The Top after I got fired.  He came up to me and told me I was the strongest guy he ever met.  He told me I needed to stay in the sport cause I would be awesome.  So we exchamnged numbers and I started competing.  I ended up winning the Nationals latewr that year in San Diego.  Someone asked me at one event what drugs I was taking.  I said nothing.  No one could believe it cause everyone of them said they were.  And couldn't beleiev I was beating people without taking drugs.  Well a couple years later when they decided to invite me to the first OVer the Top event in Beverly Hills and lost to Cleve Dean who at the time weighed about 500 and some other guy.  I decided to start taking.  They told me Test Cypionate 200 mg was great so that is all I took.  I won the next Over the Top event in Denver which qualified me for their Worlds.

The photo of me washing my car was taken the day before I left and the same day I benched 585.  I remember that because a guy had saw an article in the paper about me and as he was driving by he saw me and rolled down his window to wich me luck.  Thats hwo I remember that.  The next photo is at the Beverly Hill event.  I was about 260 or so.  I have a really cool poster of me at that event but my daughter has it hanging in her living room. That guy beat me.

I can readily believe that YOU did it, not Levrone.  He simply does not have the Natural build to do it.  You do.

225 for 30 full reps is about 440 max.

225 for 50 full reps is about 550 max.

Just saying to put things into perspective.

Mostly upper body.  Ray Mentzer had me doing alot of negatives.  We also used the Russian strength workout.  I two or guys help.  I would go up to 120% of my peak.  They would help me.  That along with doing the negatives increased my tendon strength.  Alot of heavy hammer curls.  I only did wrist curls with my right arm.  I did alot of squeezing stuff.  Even after all the lifting and everything else, after a good tournament I still had to wear a sling.  My arm woudl be killing me.  I could never understand how John B could do what he did.  He was a machine.
