Like it makes a difference or not?

Obama is an ignorant, inept, incompetent, stuttering fool who can't speak beyond mindless soundbites, straw men, pap, slogans, and 2nd grade level insults.

Damn you're a moron.  You see, there are a lot of people like, who are on the fence about which direction to go in, in the next election.  When I see the rampant hatred spewing from right wing wackos like you, it makes the choice a lot easier.

For me right now - I'm looking at things on the issues for every candidate:

4.  Do they support the GZ mosque - if so GONE

I don't give a damn if they are a Witch, a dwarf, a midget, an albino, the bearded lady at the carnival, whatever - if they support any of the above - GGGOOONNNEEE!!!!!

While I hate Islam as a religion, can I inquire why you feel you need to put this in here?

What does this actually have to do with the problems that this country faces?

The Reid/Pelosi/Obama Trifecta of incompetence, ignorance, and arrogance has done nothing to earn your vote, you disgust at my hatred for Obama aside.

I live in NYC, and the same way I would NEVER be ok with a floating Shitno Shrine to the Emporer of Japan floating in Pearl Harbor, the same holds true for a Mosque with the name and symbol of consequence, the Cordoba Project, at the very site where bodies still are unrecovered, the landing gear through those two buildings, and being pushed by a corrupt, fraudulent, thieving, lying Imam who is more a kin to the welfare queen, slum lord, mini-madoff, than a man of faith.

Do you not believe that it is the foundation of this country that if you can buy property, it is your right to do whatever you want to do with it as long as you do not harm anyone else?

That is not the law anywhere in this country.  And this is a community and cultural center as well as a mosque.  This is not a place of worship in the usual sense, but a symbol of conquest and victory.

Regardless, and while I of course recognize that they have a techincal legal right to proceed most likely, the fact that this imam is pushing this says all I need to know about his motives and for politicians to egg him on, sorry, I have an equal right to protest and voice my disgust.

Do you really think I give a flying shit?

At what point do we demand the tolerance from these people that they demand of everyone else?  Why is it always a one way street at the threat of violence or death if we don't acceed to their demands?

Bro - tell me what ignorance I spout on Obama - seriously - what have i gotten wrong on this Admn?  Have  i posted an over the top thread on occassions?  Yes?  But i predicted from Day 1 the absolute disaster this admn would be on every level.

So you're saying that if you buy property that people have the right to tell you what to do with it?

Really?

Since you have stated your opinion (and I do agree you have the right to protest), I'll tell you mine.

I believe a probe should be done to determine if any terrorist organizations are providing financial backing to his mosque (This should be done for all non profits of all kinds... including churches and synagogues) and if there is any odd funds coming from a terrorist organization, then he should not be allowed to buy the building and if it is already purchased, the government has a right to seize the property.

One of the backers already got implicated sending $$$ to a terrorist organization shut down the FBI.  Imam Rauf himself is a slum lord and welfare queenm with a horrific history of safety violations and taking Govt money and not doing what he is supposed to etc.

The reason he is not disclosuing the funding is because it will be funded by SA whabbaist sects.

That may be true... prove it and show it... Then it's not about what's there (A Mosque), it's about who's behind it.

I am all for proof.

I do agree that the fact he doesn't present his backers, while not legally required, is very sketchy.

So if a bunch of money was raised by people who we know are not tied with terrorists, would you think the Mosque was ok then?

I believe that the radical sect of Islam, while maybe 10%, leads the pack and is the tip of the spear.   I believe this 10% has a goal of submission, as we see in the UK and many other places, and are forcing their way and using our weaknesses against us to push Sharia Law  in all areas they can.

No one can force anyone to do anything if they don't allow it.

A Mosque does not represent any danger to me whatsoever, nor should it represent any danger to this country.

If someone tries to push Sharia law into our country, we simply tell them "No. If you want Sharia law... take your ass back to where you came from. You're in The United States of America and our basis of law has nothing to do with your religion."

i think its techincally legal, but its utterly insulting, appauling, and in horrible taste.

I see it as no worse than putting a strip club (which I happen to love 'em) close to other places or putting a bar next to a church.

I do not care about taste or insult... I'm only speaking of legality.

In this country, we should go with our laws, not with our hurt feelings about something.

Interesting.  So the fact that this country was founded on religious freedom and the separation of church/state as one of the bedrocks of our core values means nothing?  Perhaps we should go back to a monarchy that forces Christian beliefs on us all ::)

That's really funny consdering the Imam pushing the mosque is in favor of Sharia Law in the US, getting tax dollars to promote the mosque, got $2 million to rehab apartments, got $10,000 from the State Department to purchase his own books to spread around the ME, is in line to receive taxpayer financing for this mosque from NYC as per the comptroller, etc.

Yet, I am the one being accused of wanting to violate the sepearation of Church and State?   Ha ha - you really are making me laugh.

He should not receive any tax payer money for this either... Absolutely none.

On that basis, I would not support anyone buying a building with my money and turning into any religious area.

I posted many stories about this on the Politics board.

There is a lot more to this guy than was originally reported.

I agree with both sides of this argument. In no way do I feel conquered by a mosque being built at the site of the mighty WTC. In my mind when I really think about it is disgusting that it's being allowed to be built there, but on the other hand this country was founded and built by immigrants of all religions and races. 333386 this is not pointed at you personally, I am just replying to the post. I spent many years in the USMC and fought terrorism, and I can feel the disgust that a lot of others feel, but this country is still strong, and we will overcome terrorism weather or not a mosque is built at the site of the WTC. GodSpeed to all the fallen AMERICANS who had their lives stolen on 9-11. No matter what is built there you will never be forgotten.

My argument has been from Day 1 that just because something is legally right, does not make it the right thing to do.  The way this Imam is proomoting this, I view him in the same light as the Westboro Baptist crowd.

Yes its legal, but it still a crappy thing to do deserving and warranting scorn and protest.

You are correct here. There is always a 10% that is out to cause trouble, in every religion, culture, club, company, etc. The Marine Corps has a saying about the 10% that just does not cut it.  It's everywhere. Radical Muslims in reality probably don't even make up anywhere near 10%. I dont have a lot of sympathy or love for any radicalized religion.
