Poll: Paladino within six points of Cuomo
NY Post ^ | Sept. 22, 2010 | FREDRIC U. DICKER

ALBANY - A stunning new poll this morning shows Democratic Attorney General Andrew Cuomo holding a mere six point lead over bomb throwing Buffalo businessman Carl Paladino in what until now has been Cuomo's runaway race for governor.

The startling Quinnipiac University survey of likely voters showed Cuomo ahead of Republican Paladino by 49-43 percent, a far cry from the 60-23 percent lead he held in a Quinnipiac poll of registered - but not necessarily likely - voters released Sept. 1.

Since the poll's margin of error is plus- or minus-3.6 percent, the findings - if accurate -- mean the race between the popular and well-known attorney general and the little-known but highly controversial, Tea Party-linked, Paladino could be a dead heat.

The new poll did not ask voters if they backed Conservative Party candidate Rick Lazio, even though he's expected to be on the November 2 ballot draining votes from Paladino, who defeated him in last week's GOP primary.

The new poll found Paladino leading Cuomo among Tea Party backers by a whopping 4-1 margin

who calls him crazy, and why?

The NY Daily News, Ed Koch, Bloomberg, Patterson, and the rest of the left wing dirtbag and criminals running the show here.

The public is behind Carl big time and everyone I know, including myself voted for him in the primary.  The polls said lazio was up by 5 points the day of the election and Paladino won by almost 30 points!

I think the same thing is going to happen in NY, but by around 5-10 points over Cuomo.  The lazy idiots who voted for obama will sit home and the taxpayers will all race to the polls for Paladino, especially upstate.

Cuomo is a freaking disaster!  He single handidly started the housing mess while at HUD suing banks to give out bad loans and he is on tape admnitting it.  I posted that vid already.

The far left is going to FREAK when he wins.

The first guy to point a finger at democrats and rightly blame them for the economic crash. It wasnt tax cuts or the wars.It was the community reinvestment act that forced banks to give loans to scum bags who couldnt pay them back all for the sake of diversity.

Its so funny when a no talent nit wit with an audiance smaller then a Michigan football game gets on tv and calls everyone who is conservative nuts, then support people like Harry Reid who says Obama is a light skinned negro who can turn on and off his negro dialect.Nothing nutty about that at all.

Nothing nutty about hanging out witryh domestic terrorists like Bill Ayers or a white Priest who has convinced himself he is black like Father Flager.Thats very very normal and mainstream.Nothing nutty about a guy running for senate who calls himself a bearded Marxist.

Nope, the left are very very typical of main stream America.

Carl on the Ground Zero Mosque

Carl's opinion on the Ground Zero Mosque is simple: NO.

The Ground Zero Mosque is an affront to the American people and an insult to the thousands who died there and the thousands of troops who have been killed and maimed in the ensuing wars.

Carl believes Ground Zero is much larger than the footprint of the Twin Towers. In fact, Ground Zero is the entire lower Manhattan district where the dust cloud fell. That cloud contained the remains of the many men and women murdered.

Carl doesn't view this as a religious issue. He sees it as all about ideology - an ideology of hate bent on the destruction of America. The developers of the Ground Zero Mosque are not moderate Muslims - they support Hamas and blame the United States for 9-11. Many moderate Muslims are as upset about the Ground Zero Mosque as non-Muslims.

Carl doesn't think we need to just investigate the funding behind the Mosque - that's equivocating. It doesn't matter who paid for it. When Carl is sworn in as Governor of New York, he will stop the Mosque that very day by any legal means necessary.

Eminent domain may help accomplish this, but not by taking the property. With limited eminent domain, the Ground Zero District can simply be declared a restricted area where insults to the 9-11 families may never be built.

Cuomo undecided on debating NY GOP gov opponent
By MICHAEL GORMLEY (AP) – 21 hours ago

________________________ ________________________ ______________________

ALBANY, N.Y. — Democratic candidate for governor Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday he still hasn't decided if he will debate tea party Republican Carl Paladino, who issued the challenge a week ago.

Despite the lack of face-to-face contact, the contest is gaining national attention for some nasty tactics by both sides, despite pressing issues in New York including a fiscal crisis and state government's reputation for dysfunction and corruption. The online Drudge Report featured the governor's race Tuesday under the headline: "NY: The nastiest campaign ... dirt, smears, insults."

This week Paladino wrote Cuomo, the son of former Gov. Mario Cuomo: "For the first time in your life be a man. Don't hide behind daddy's coattails even though he pulled strings to advance your career every step of your way. Come out and debate like a man."

In a rare interview Tuesday, Cuomo told WGDJ-AM in Albany that he still hasn't determined if his campaign will agree on details to debate Paladino. The millionaire Buffalo developer and political novice shocked the GOP a week ago by beating the party's designee, former U.S. Rep. Rick Lazio, in his landslide primary win.

Cuomo, the state's attorney general, had a 2:1 lead in the polls and a $20 million fundraising advantage in the latest state filings before last week's GOP primary.

Cuomo said, however, that he's his own campaign strategist and is above the fray, although the state Democratic Committee he directs has engaged Paladino for weeks. While Cuomo has refused to comment on Paladino publicly, Democratic surrogates and the state committee, responding to reporters' questions, have attacked and counterattacked Paladino in TV ads and blistering broadsides, calling Paladino "crazy."

"I think we have them worried," Paladino told The Associated Press. "We're trying to bloody them up and send them back" out of government. "They are like locusts coming from every direction right now."

Democrats on Monday released an Internet image of Paladino's face on a pig's body, with a pig's nose, rooting at "the public trough." It's a reference to about $10 million a year in state rents he collects for buildings he owns in Buffalo, a tax break and his own campaign contributions over the years to Democrats and Republicans.

Days before, Paladino's campaign released an image with Cuomo's face on a man in a shower trying to rinse off "special interest $$$" and other political dirt, referring to Cuomo's campaign contributors that include powerful public worker unions and other groups aligned with Democrats who control Albany. A rubber duck sat in the soap dish.

In Tuesday's radio interview, Cuomo tried to distance himself from the attack ads and news stories critical of Paladino, but he said he wouldn't admonish the state committee.

A New York Daily News headline on Tuesday stated: "Mad Carl Disease! Baffled Cuomo seeks cure for Paladino's personal attacks." The story told of an emergency meeting of Cuomo and his campaign staff on how to combat Paladino directly. Cuomo didn't deny the meeting happened.

"I don't think that was necessary," said Cuomo of the pig-at-the-trough ad, refusing to say if he approved the message. "I'm not going to run a campaign that engages in gutter politics," he said, laughing at what he sees as Paladino's strategy.

Asked about whether he would agree to debate Paladino, Cuomo raised the possibility of requiring that Lazio, who may still run in November on the minor party line, be part of the debate. Cuomo wouldn't respond when told that tactic is usually done to dilute the opposition's message and air time.

When pressed, Cuomo wouldn't say if he will debate.

"As soon as the question was asked, I said I was open to debate and the campaigns would talk about it. That was just last week," Cuomo said, with six weeks left in the campaign. "'Open to debating' means I'm open to debating, just what the words suggest ... that really isn't a legitimate issue."

Paladino spokesman Michael Caputo said Cuomo's campaign was not negotiating.

"They are ducking me," Paladino said.

Cuomo Caught Lying About Voting For Bloomberg?
CBS New York ^ | 9/22/10 | CBS

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — There has been a dramatic development in the race for New York governor.

A new poll has Republican Carl Paladino within striking distance of Democrat Andrew Cuomo as voters say they want to elect someone who will stop the circus in Albany.

Wednesday was supposed to be Cuomo’s day as he picked up the endorsement of New York City’s notoriously independent mayor, Michael Bloomberg, in the race for governor.

But a new poll changed that because it turned Cuomo’s once comfortable front-runner status on its head.

“I’m in politics. I’m in government, so nothing surprises me,” Cuomo told CBS 2′s Marcia Kramer. . . . But for all his actions as the state’s chief law enforcement officer, Cuomo did have a little problem with telling the truth about his election box support for Mayor Bloomberg.

“Have I voted for the mayor? Yes,” Cuomo said.

Actually, he didn’t. The Cuomo campaign had to issue a clarification, saying he was only registered to vote in New York City in 2005 when he endorsed Democrat Fernando Ferrer.

Political experts say Cuomo can’t afford to make a mistake like that in a close contest.

EDWARDS: ANDY SIGNED OFF ON CARL'S LEASES
Lt. Gov. candidate calls Cuomo TV ad desperate, misleading

(DUNKIRK, NY) - Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards, the Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor of New York, today called Democrat Governor candidate Andrew Cuomo "desperate and misleading" for attacking Carl Paladino's business in his first general election television advertisement.

"Andrew Cuomo and the Democrat Party are smearing Carl Paladino's successful career and record as a businessman in an attempt to distract the voters," Edwards said. "Their new ad attacking Carl's leases with State government fails to mention that Democrat Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and his predecessors signed off on all of Carl's leases. So did the Democrat Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and his predecessors."

Edwards pointed out that former Office of General Services Commissioner John Egan recently lauded Paladino's work with the State -- urban development that fulfills State policies to revitalize inner cities. "He runs a very good building -- or buildings, I should say," Egan said to the Albany Times Union.

"I would say he has been a good landlord. His rates are below average. I don't know of any major problems. If there had been problems, I would have heard about it. So as a businessman he obviously has done well," Egan said.

"Carl's companies won every State lease he holds as the lowest bidder in an open bidding process without political favoritism in a completely transparent transaction. Carl Paladino participated in public programs open to any New Yorker, and got no political favors," Edwards said. "The allegation that Carl engaged in pay-to-play is desperate and misleading and Andrew knows it."

"Here's the bad news for Andrew Cuomo: his coronation has been canceled," Edwards said.

In an unexpected warning of Cuomo's smear campaign tactics, former Gov. Eliot Spitzer yesterday reminded voters that Andrew Cuomo is "the dirtiest, nastiest political player out there."

Carl Paladino and Greg Edwards will appear together on the campaign trail for the first time tonight, September 23rd, in Cattaraugus County at 6pm. (Old Library Restaurant, 116 South Union Street, Olean, NY 14760)

ABOUT GREG EDWARDS
A graduate of Allegheny College and University of Toledo College of Law, Greg Edwards entered public office for the first time in 2005 when he was first elected Chautauqua County Executive. As County CEO, he reduced property taxes, spearheaded creative economic development initiatives and made government more accountable and efficient. Edwards grew up and worked on his family diary farm in Panama, New York and had a successful private sector career for eighteen years.

ABOUT CARL PALADINO
Carl Paladino, a successful Western New York real estate developer and attorney, is the Republican candidate for Governor of New York. He petitioned his way into the Republican Primary and canvassed to create a new Taxpayers ballot line. On September 14th, Paladino beat his Republican Primary opponent by a record 62 to 38 in one of the highest-turnout primaries in New York history.

Like cream, scum always rises to the surface...and here we have the scum beginning to rise. Watch as more becomes apparent about this Carl Scum.

Calling Paladino a ‘Welfare King’
By NICHOLAS CONFESSORE
Published: September 24, 2010

This 30-second television advertisement — titled “One Job?” — is the third for Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat, in his campaign for governor of New York. His Republican challenger is Carl P. Paladino, a Buffalo businessman and developer. The Cuomo campaign declined to specify where the advertisement would run, on what channels or at what cost.

PRODUCER Murphy Putnam

THE SCRIPT “Who is Carl Paladino? A landlord and developer who has given politicians almost a half-million dollars and gets insider deals from Albany. Carl Paladino got a $1.4 million Empire Zone tax break to create jobs. But his official filings show only one job was created. A $1.4 million tax break for one job? Carl Paladino: a welfare king who got rich by milking New York taxpayers. Carl Paladino isn’t part of the solution in Albany. He’s part of the problem.”

ON THE SCREEN The advertisement opens, as negative ones usually do, with a picture of the target looking his worst: scowling, furtive and raccoon-eyed. Over a soundtrack of ominous music, the picture moves to the side of the screen as facts swoop in to back up the script, including the figure $452,000 — a reference to Mr. Paladino’s total campaign donations to politicians — and a picture of a state form on which businesses apply for the tax credits. The picture then pivots to a close-up of an article in The Daily News, spotlighting a description of Mr. Paladino as a “welfare king.”

ACCURACY Mr. Paladino’s campaign does not dispute his history of political giving, the size of the tax break or the job creation reported to state officials. But it argues that the rules for such reporting undervalue the economic impact of Mr. Paladino’s developments, especially those that house retail stores.

SCORECARD As negative ads go, this one is somewhat mild, especially when compared with the blustery rhetoric and sometimes cartoonish nicknames Mr. Paladino has hurled in Mr. Cuomo’s direction. It quickly captures a tension inherent in the candidacy of Mr. Paladino, who is running as a pitchfork-wielding anti-Albany outsider but is also a multimillionaire, a longtime political donor and a prominent businessman who has earned substantial amounts from government contracts.
