No one's passing the buck as the company itself has said it was their responsibility. They were supposed to perform the background check. That's why you hire through a company like that as they take care of all the legwork. That's why these companies exist. Otherwise you'd go through Craigslist and handle everything yourself.

She came through an agency and the agency has said that she filled out paperwork saying that she was able to legally work in the country. It was their responsibility and she lied on every piece of paper she filled out AND she used a fake SS number. The alien should be in jail.

Like I said above, that's why these agencies exist. They do the legwork, you hire the person. Why would she have any reason to suspect the woman was illegal when an established company who only employs people who can legally work in the country referred the woman to her?
