Basically, with any woman who was not raised in a Western country (USA, Canada, most of Europe, etc.), it is possible there is a chance because they weren't raised to think they are the centre of the universe with inflated senses of self-worth and ego  are less likely to suffer from Me-Syndrome (as I call it); if the woman is wholly Western, then your chances are slim.

I'm with you, given the times, I certainly think it is a must to live together before getting married. I would prefer living together before engagement... however I'm also flexible and been around the block a few times and have a good idea of what to look for. her family is ultra conservative old fashion and while she stays over on a regular basis and I stay over at her house on a regular basis, the actual living together without some official status is frowned upon.. far be it from me to point out the hypocrisy of it all but suffice it to say that at this point, I think I have seen how she is in stress situations, and when things are going good and bad, but I really want the opportunity to play house together for a year before getting married just to be on the safe side. If things are as they appear then I couldn't do any better than her she is quite a unique and wonderful person.

What would you say is a good time frame? I thought about that too... For me, the engagement is the next step, not the marriage. While I fully intend to marry her, during our year long engagement we will move in together, which I think is the ultimate test of compatibility and within that time most red flags will have surfaced. So far, no red flags, but while we stay together several days of the week, it's not the same as 24/7 living arrangement  

Imo, get married after the 2 year period of infatuation has passed.  Maybe set the date for 2012 sometime.
