The crowd not only popped during the Road Warriors' entrance music but all during the match.  The NWA was so much better at this time then the Saturday morning cartoon WWF !

Ultimate Warrior in 1989 was insane for crowd reaction. watch the end of this match with Rude:

another pop for a star that people criticize yet he receives more of a crowd reaction than anyone in the business can even come close to today:

Wrong. Stone Cold Steve Austin got the loudest pops. Warrior got pops 1988-1991. Austin got pops 1997-2003. Austin wins, Warrior is just a flash in the pan.

i think the biggest ever intial pop was  for c. m.punk the first time he ever came out people seemed to love the guy, which i thought pretty unusual for a guy i never saw before. triple h got a pretty good pop when he came back after his injury{ies} esp with the build up videos to the u2 song a beautiful day, very inspirational to say the least.

3 biggest pops ever where from Austin, Hogan and Warrior (Warrior only in 1988-1991 first WWE run).

I think UW is very, very under rated as a performer and a popper to the crowd. Biggest problem is that his real bad attitude, arrogance and ego have gotten so many people to hate his guts that they forget that he was actually a big name back in the day. He definately left his thumb print in the world of wrestling.

The problem with Warrior was that he absolutely couldn't wrestle a lick and refused to be a good student......he could pop a crowd with his entrance, much credit is due to VKM for that also, but that was it.....no great matches on his resume.....not one.  Combine that with his ego and you have someone that people are quick to forget about.

I respectfully disagree.

Warrior had many great ppv matches and showed a varied move set in many of them.

see: Warrior vs Rude at SS89

Warrior vs Savage at WM7
Warrior vs Savage at SS91
Warrior vs Hogan was not the most scientific match, but it had drama and it wasn't all from Hogan.
Hell, just google Warrior vs Dibiase from Sat. Night main event on youtube. Warrior even does a SUNSET FLIP.

yes, you read that right.

yes, if he was facing Andre or dino bravo, of course his matches sucked.

but when he faced someone with some actual ability, he had a great match.

I'll have to look at some of those, although it appears by the list you have that he was probably carried to decent matches by superior workers.....all I can rememeber is him charging the ring, pulling the ropes up and down, clotheslining people and then press slamming them.... :-\

it takes two to have a great match.

Warrior had ability but it wasn't showcased against guys like Andre and Earthquake.

it came out in matches like those I listed.

A good worker is able to have a good match with anyone.
His greatest matches will be with someone who compliments his skill set.

A lot of people criticize Hogan's ability to work.
While Hulk vs. Andre was built more on image & hype, remember that Hulkster took a 300lb. guy with a lazy eye & "0" wrestling experience OF ANY KIND and drew good money in a high-profile program a short time later.

UW didn't have Hogan's aptitude in that respect.
If he did, then they would have given him Hogan's money & spot.
They gave him the "ultimate chance" at Mania 6, which was a good effort, but it wasn't long before the Hulk was put back in the driver's seat - and with good reason.

Here is an example of a match I pulled on youtube...

monty can weigh in , as he knows far more than me, but other than the big entrance UW just looks lost as he does a double body slam that goes nowhere and just walks around the ring like he doesn't know what to do.  And his "selling" was awful.  Look at how he doesn't sell any of Rudes punches, etc... even when he is trying to.  When he stomps Rude in the corner, he doesn't even stomp with his off foot to give some sound and thump.....the guy just looks like a green indy performer with a good build.
