The tea party voice was very loud tonight and will only get louder. Tonight proves without question the tea party is here to say....sorry Olbermann.

Look at the House of Reps and who has lost! ! ! ! !   Many veteran dems are all gone.  even more are on the verge of losing.  Bocieri, kanjorski, boucher, ike skelton, all gone!

I am honestly shocked that Reid won again, really thought this guy was gone...absolutely shocked!
I guess the people of Nevada aren't hurting bad enough yet, 14.6% unemployment must be something their comfortable with.

The best part is that the GOP will effectively run the senate but not get the blame and come 2012- many many many more vulnerable dem seats are up than were in this cycle.

As for the house of reps - GREAT JOB!

Are you guys concerned that the GOP will repeat the same shit they pulled last time (not that dems are any better) they ran the show?

Agreed. We're probably going to be looking at 2 more yrs of a stale depressed economy, Obama will more than likely not move anywhere near compromise. So it very well may indeed suck for 2 more yrs but these next 2yrs will destroy democratic party.

Of course - but if we get gridlock - that is a huge improvement over pelosi-red-obama steamrolling shit.

They're not running the show now, all they've done now is prevented anymore Obama agenda being pushed through. The Dem's still hold the main responsibility and the republicans will use that against them in 2012.

Why?

What 333 said, that's why.

Funny how two of the most despised people in the U.S. continue to hold their seats, Reid and Pelosi. Even funnier how blatant liars and thief's such as Dick and Barney still hold their seats, especially Barney since he's obviously a victim of severe brain damage.

The good news is that the spending spigots will be closed. Even if the Dems control the Senate, they cant spend money that the House doesnt approve. Spending bills orginate in the House of Represntatives. Also, even though the Dems lost the super majority in the Senate a year ago, in a practicality sense they still had it. It was always going to be easy to get one Republican vote on financial reform and other laws. That will no longer be the case after tonight. We are now far enough away from that crucial 60th vote that we dont have to worry about terrible laws like Frank-Dodd. ONe of two good things will happen in the next two years: Either the economy will get a lot better, or Obama will lose re-election in 2012. Because if the economy does not improve, Obama will get blamed and will lose. It wont matter how he tries to spin it. Either way, the people have won.

wow, did you guys listen to Keith Olbermann last night regarding Rand Paul?

They used words like anarchist, dangerous, they said his vote to not raise the countries debt ceiling would ruin the planets economies and  put Americans out on the streets . I didnt know he had that much power. They are in complete fear over this guy and like I already said, I dont really like some of his stances but his victory speech was great and they had a shit attack over it. lol

I like Rand Paul and Rubio.  Rubio gave a great speech last night and is going to be a real force against Obama./

Yes, but the tea party made up for it in the house of reps.

I don't see how... Any Republican was going to win those seats.

Look at the past 10 years and the red just went back to red where it was previously.

The Tea Party took out dingle, kanjorski, olberstar, ike skelton, and many long time dems.

These are simply responses to the current environment... That's all. It's not unseen at all. Look at the overall map and look hard. It looks like I expected it would always look.

Nice job trying to dismiss this as just a typical midterm election with a simple party switch!    ::)

Republicans gained more than 59 seats in the House of Representatives making it the largest party switch in the House since 1948.
