I called directv a couple weeks back, went through a pushbutton "self help" deal, then a real english speaking guy came on.....I told him, that's bullshit what can I do to get to a person faster, he said just press 0 at the menu. Next time try it see if it works.

Dell did that shit. One time when I had computer problems, I actually got an american tech and said oh thank goodness your english. He gave me the phone numbers to reach english speaking techs.

Try not pressing any touch tone buttons (as if you only have a rotary) and you should usually get someone live somewhat soon.

Another thing is if they have the touch or verbal recog commands say"one" for x and say "two" for y or whatever.... Just babble incoherently or make darryl Hannah splash noises and you'll get a person asap

I got an Indian guy from Dell once who could not speak English and his accent was so thick even if he could you wouldn't understand his gibberish.

His trouble shooting consisted of telling me to unplug everything and leave it 30 seconds before it plugging back in.

It's an insult handing me over to these people every time I have trouble with my cable, pc , bank ..
I'm not even being racial here - I don't care about their skin color, just that they can actually communicate in English.

It's really frustrating when they say "to get you to the person you can best serve you ..." and you answer all their 'if this-then that' questions and the person who answers asks the same damn questions again  

I used to be a programmer for several of those systems and always made the customer determine a zero out destination in every menu before the system went live.

You get to talk to a Real educated American, who doesn't fuck around. Maybe a 30 dollar premium over shit brands like HP...
