From what I've heard, it was over U.S $ 1 million. Compare this to Carwin who made a net U.S $ 30,000 when he fought Lesnar. I doubt the UFC would pay him over a million for a single fight, and that is including pay-per-view money.
SUCKMYMUSCLE
Okay, so please don't take this the wrong way, but you are absolutely CLUELESS! First of all, the Japanese fighting opportunities may have been there 5-10 years ago, but they are not there today. Have you been keeping on what's been happening? The reason Fedor came to Affliction and then StrikeForce, is because Japanese MMA is not what it once was.
That said, I'm sure you are aware that Fedor's contract with Affliction became public record during the lawsuit right? Fedor was getting $300,000 per fight. M1 was getting $1.2 million per fight. Fedor owns 10% of M1, so in Affliction Fedor was getting $420,000 per fight. There was a bunch of other clauses in there, which did not compensate Fedor, but put more money in Finkelstein's pocket.
The UFC was willing to pay Fedor more than any other fighter in it's roster. This included the PPV % as well as fight & win bonuses. They wanted a minimum 3 fight deal that allowed him to continue to compete in Sambo. Fedor would have been making about $400,000 to fight, plus a win bonus plus 3%-5% of the PPV. That's over $2.5 million per fight. But, the real money would have been in his endorsement deals. Fighting in the UFC gives fighters the opportunity to charge a lot more for endorsement deals. Guys like Rampage, GSP, Anderson, etc. get $500,000+ plus for wearing their logo hats, t-shits, shorts, etc. There was no better financial deal for Fedor than the UFC. But, Finkelstein was getting cut out of it, so it didn't happen. Now that he lost, the UFC will not be offering anything close to that.
