How to get rid of homeless transients?

I have a park and library about three blocks from my house, and there are always clusters of homeless bums loitering about. Occationally, they shamble up the street and do bum things a little too close to my universe.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of this filth? The cops won't do anything about them... always give the 'can't do anything to them until they commit a crime" bullshit answer. Then about a couple times a week one of them thieves something or tries to molest some kid and goes to jail, only to be OR'd a day later... with freshly laundered sweats on.

Several in the neighborhood go out and get a little rough with them when they get too close, but they never seem to learn.

So how to get rid of them? Is pipes and broken ax handles the only solution?

Nah, they like it here because the library won't do anything about them, and there is a bum-feeding station about a quarter mile on the other side of the library. So they just loiter all day doing petty property crimes waiting for the bum-collection place to open back up.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Central Florida already has a big problem with homelessness. Roughly 10,000 people are homeless in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.

But Eyewitness News has learned even more homeless folks are coming to the area because the city of New York is putting homeless people onto planes and sending some of them to places such as Orlando.

Once they get off the plane, there are supposed to be local relatives who are willing to take them in. Eyewitness News knows 100 families have arrived over the last two years, but it's unclear if any are now homeless in Central Florida.

Orlando's Lake Eola Park is a popular place for the area's homeless people and their numbers may grow thanks to New York City.

"Whether we are transferring the problem elsewhere, I don't know when they get to the other place if they find jobs. It may be easier for them," NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

Bloomberg has pushed the program that has taken 100 families out of New York homeless shelters and given them one-way airline tickets to Florida.

"Addressing the issue of homelessness, by moving people from one city to another, is not a solution," said Brent Trotter, president of the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida.

Trotter says simply relocating families does nothing to solve their problems. For the city of New York, it's all about money. It costs far less to book flights than house families in shelters.

The families are supposed to move in with relatives in Florida, but officials in New York admit they are not keeping track of that.

"I would say, 'Shame on you New York City.' Not because they're sending them other places, but because they're not addressing it within their own confines. Very likely, the homeless population that is in that city are folks who have lived in that city," Trotter said.

New York City has relocated 550 families in all, some as far away as France. The most families flew to Puerto Rico and the second most to Florida.

if you can get the area wet where they congregate  this would work. turn it into a marsh. you can fill 4 30 gal trash cans with your water hose, and take them down there in a truck. get close to them and knock over the trash cans, flooding the area.

if you cant do that, get some bags of manuer at local garden store. spread it over the area when they are at the bum place eating, when they come back to congregate the wont like it so much.
 this is advice given to me straight from the mouth of a cop.

Its been written that 60% of the homeless are child molesters. If the cops wont do anything, you should take matters into your own hands. Might I suggest a little rat poison in a half drunken bottle of mad dog 20 20 left under a bench. Repeat as necessary. Switching off with draino and anti-freeze from time to time.

From previous posts of mine:

i lived in a shitty trailer park for over a year.  when we moved in, there were junkies, homeless, vagrants who lived in efficiecies by the week, sex offenders, and of course, illegals.

I didn't get on message boards and vent.  I sat down with the decent old folks in the park and we determined who the problems were.  We applied pressure on mgmt not to renew their leases.  When there were suspicious cars, 6 or 8 of us would come out of our trailers at the same time and stand around 5 feet from their car (visibly armed) write down their info, give them shitty looks, etc.  If they were up to no good, they left.  When bums would walk thru at night, we'd approach them as miilitantly as possible and ask them if they needed directions.  The look on our faces and the shotgun rack they heard but never saw meant they didn't come back.

I guess I just don't understand the mindset of being pissed about illegals and not doing anything about it.  Scumbags (legal or otherwise) weren't welcome in our trailer park.  We made them uncomfortable, scared, whatever, and they took their fun elsewhere.

I'm not saying be violent or break the law.  I'm saying you bench in your screen room, you check your mail with your glock clearly visible, you approach strangers and ask them what their business is in this location.  They give you guff, you call 911 and report public nuisance, pot smell, suspicious vehicle, whatever.  You chase them out.

Seriously, yall call me a lib pussy, but when I see a car on my street I don't know, I strap up, photograph their plate, and I knock on their window and ask them if they need a little help.  If I saw scumbags on my street today, I immediately engage them.  The law is on my side.  They pull a weapon, I center punch both bastards and call 911.  They don't leave, I call 911 and report something juicy.  The presence of police means they'll take the drama elsewhere.



I don't know how much of this will help you.  Start a community intimidation/defense group and disguise it as "neighborhood watch".  You have a lot more rights than someone who doesn't belong, and if you are the one who lives there and is calling the police, nobody is going to believe a half-drunk beaten vagrant anyway   If he doesn't live there, he is bringing down your property value - he is actually stealing from you.  So let you feel no guilt!

Easiest solution - If the hang out in the same spot every day - get some raccoon urine from your nearest hunting store.  Load up your super soaker pistol.  Go to that area in the evening, and soak the grounds at 2 am.

The nest day, as the sun hits it, the bums will find it uncomfortable and move on down the block. 

It's barely a crime - I mean, if you get stopped by the cops, tell them you are walking to a friends house for a hunting trip the following morning and the urine helps you to not be detected.  But you won't get caught.  And they'll be uncomfortable and leave.
