The difference between liberals and conservitives when it comes to spending comes down to this:

Liberals: Tax and Spend
Conservatives: Borrow and Spend

That's it.

Really? Liberals have done a great job showing us that they're just as much "borrow and spend" as the conservatives are.

Interesting. Leftists cry about the middle class getting fucked over and yet all soldiers fall into the middle class.

Guess it's only certain people in the middle class that matter.

if they are in the middle class then they just got a tax cut and they (along with everyone else ) got a cut in their payroll tax as well

they are also the only federal employees who are not subject to a pay freeze

Exactly, as far as I know the liberals are the ones who are fiscally irresponsible.  Not the other way around.

then you don't know "very far"

I was being a little facetious in the simplicity of that statement.  Traditionally, that's where the parties have fallen but as of late there's really no difference if you want to be technical about where the money is coming from.

Obama needs to slash the huge deficit in the budget.

State employees are a part of it.

I think a pay raise is in order. Perhaps even more than 1.4%.

But perhaps not all employees in the military and other parts of the government should be working for tax dollars.

Big deal... That's bullshit.

They choose to join the military. They CHOOSE the life.

NO ONE gets a guaranteed pay raise in life. That's as socialist as you can get.

No, socialist is virtually paying people NOT to work for nearly two years (aka the "99ers").

Only in Obama's goofball administration do those who actually work get a meager pay raise, while those that don't get bumps almost indefinitely.

Wow......awsome thread...glad Tu decides that I'm both average and don't deserve a raise. Unlike the average civilian government employee we work long hours, especially deployed. DOD civilians, many of whom I'd like to strangle work 8-4. Those are hard and fast hours and if they're doing something for you, many times they pack up and leave, regardless of what you need. I just spend 13 months deployed...I worked on average from 7AM to 11 PM every day...everyday. The food sucked, the living conditions sucked..the Iraqi's sucked..I was paid well enough but the average American wouldn't put up with the crap we do..never mind heavy combat. I can deal with the current pay raise but I have a ton of time in and make good money..my guys worked the same hours for alot less pay...its not fair to them. There are plenty of places to cut...the military, favored whipping boy of the douchbag left, is'nt one of them.

I thought KBR made the good grub for the troops.

Cry me a river... You're damn right I don't think you should get a raise.

I'm not saying you shouldn't EVER get one, but in the real world, when your business isn't making a profit, it's employees don't get raises.

I've gone 2 years without one, even having stellar reviews... You think you're better than ME?

Screw that.

I'm not saying you don't do your job well, I'm saying that when an entity isn't making money, they can't afford to get raises.

Sorry buddy, but you work for ME... The civilian who pays for you every day.

You don't like it, WAAAAH. That's the way the world works.

Don't get started on the liberal shit either... It makes you look retarded. I think Medicare, Social Security, and the Military all need to get cut.

Civilian Military people should be cut the same and they should be forced to actually earn their pay... Also they shouldn't be getting any raises either.

You ain't special.

They are both exactly the same... The only difference is the Liberals want to tax you more, even though the taxes still don't equate to the budget shortfall every year... Not even close.

They do man.

I worked for 3 weeks at West Point and the enlisted people (read real workers) were not allowed to eat with the Cadets and their grub was fucking great.

Like 5 bucks got you all you could eat everything from steak and lobster to any kind of desert.

They ate better than damn near anyone I've ever seen on the cheap.

I didn't get there until after 9/11, but I gotta say... The campus is beautiful and the place has a real air of history about it.

It makes me rethink my choices in my collegiate past. Sometimes I think being an officer would be kinda nice.

I still wouldn't and SHOULDN'T be guaranteed a pay raise.

The wierd part was watching cadets go by and thinking hat must be going through their head while we were all there burying him.

Some I bet... A lot of those cadets are going to have some nice cushy job because they are kids of a senator or something.
