I can't even watch it anymore. It's gone in a really bad direction.
In the 80's it was just kinda goofy and funny, over the top.
In the 90's it was funny because they were pushing the limits and there were so many different wrestlers. It was still kinda goofy and had a lot of comedy. WCW was expecially cool back then.
Now, it sucks because it's too serious. When I watch wrestling now they have these huge dialogues that last like 5 minutes, where they are zooming in on the guy's faces, with all this bullshit drama and bad acting. It's like they are trying to turn it into some Shakespearian play or something. It makes me cringe to watch it.
It seems like it is totally dominated by a much smaller number of wrestlers. The same 10 guys over and over, while it used to be about 30 guys in the spotlight.
It seems like they aren't doing as awesome of wrestling moves. Probably for safety reasons and to avoid injury. But you just don't see the great powerbombs and slams like you used to. I heard it's because too many guys were fucking up their necks, but anyway, it's not as fun to watch.
With all the anti-steroid propaganda, the wrestlers have shrunk down. The awesome steroid freaks of the past are being replaced by much more average looking guys.
I don't wanna see huge dialogues, if I wanted that i'd go down to the theatre. I wanna see funny shit, awesome slams, huge steroid freaks, dangerous moves, and jaw-dropping shit. Wrestling has lost these qualities and it sucks.
Of course i'm talking about WWE here. I'm sure the other organizations are doing cool stuff but I never take the time to watch them.
