Wiggs is an addict, pure and simple. These drugs serve no useful value for him at this stage of his life (30's and married), yet he cannot help himself.
Is it any surprise Wiggs feels that he needs anti depressants when he wastes his time and money in this fashion? Depression is usually the result of the guilt of consistently being your own worst enemy and yet continuing to engage in the same self destructive habits.
I have a friend that's really into cars. He works on them, spends a ton of dough beefing them up, most of them he hardly drives. Just takes them to local cars shows and shows them off. Doesn't seem to serve any useful purpose other than that's what he's into.
You follow MMA, remember Enson Inoue? I knew him from back in the day when he use to train at Machado's Jiu-Jitus with his brother, Egan. Was into tats. Always getting needles and ink punched into his skin. So many people are like that. I don't get it. But, whatever. It's what they're into.
Some people want to have big muscles. Whether it's to impress others or that they look at their body as some kind of art form and they want to look like a God. I wanted to have big muscles when I was in my late teens/early twenties. Even now ideally I'd like have about 20 pounds more muscle than I have now. I'm just not willing to do what it takes. I don't think steroids and HGH are particularly harmful. I think just being really, really big is. If you're 5'10" and weighing 275+ lbs even if you're single digits your heart is working pretty damn hard.
There's worse things a person can do with his free time than wanting to lose fat and put on muscle. It's not like Wiggs is quiting his job and neglecting his wife to do it. I don't think it's a waste of his time. If anything, it gives some meaning and purpose to life other than just job and sitting on the couch watching TV. I think you said you train in martial arts. Why? You plan on fighting anybody in the near future? What useful practical purpose is it serving you?
I hope you get in great shape, Wiggs. And do it just for the hell of it. While you still have the fire in the old belly. Or maybe it's because you're insecure. Just like the guy who becomes rich because he wants respect and to matter in life. Arnold use to say that he always had to be the center of attention. He wonder if it was because his older brother always got most of the attention from his dad. GSP and Mayhem Miller spoke about how they were picked on as a kid and perhaps that's what got them into MMA and gave them the drive to endure such a brutal sport. They were compensating.
Maybe anybody that ever amounts to anything is just compensating.
