 The Vietnamese jail I was in was brutal, just a total hellhole. I was only in there for 3 days luckily.

 They don't give you shit there, even getting your meals is not guaranteed. Blankets, toilet paper, toothbrush, none of it is gauranteed. Lots of people were openly shooting up and smoking meth in there. I actually smoked weed in there a few times. It was pretty fucked up. Totally corrupt.

i've been in jail plenty of times - no prison, no convictinos but I still cant get an apartment on my own cause of my 'record' fckn assault charges

I'm sorry if I come across as naive with regards to legal matters, but if you had no convictions (as mentioned above), how can you still have a record?

When convicted, you are found guilty of an actual crime, if not convicted you are then released and the charges are dropped with no record to be had.

Help me out here chief, how do you have a record with no prior convictions?

I'm not half or even quarter Jew.  I just have Jewish blood in my bloodline...I do have white blood (British) very close but that means nothing cause I'm the same color as a milk chocolate bar...As sal would say, I sometimes confuse my fingers for kit-kats...My 2 brothers haven't been in jail or prison either...knock on wood.

Never been remotely near going to jail or prison.. but I do watch a lot of Lockdown on MSNBC.  

Learned a couple of things:

- Seems like the rape things is way overplayed and over hyped in the media. From all the episodes I've seen, the guys never really talk about it being that much of an issue. But if you are gay you can easily  find sex.

- But they do go on endlessly about gang affiliations/gang wars/ and associating with your own color (white/black/Hispanic). Even associating with the wrong color can get you quickly stabbed.

-  Seems like as long as you mind your own business, show people respect and obey the informal laws on the inside, you'll be ok.

- A LOT of the inmates who committed horrible acts of violence and rape etc seem to do a lot of endless bitching and whining all the time over tiny shit, like getting their mail a day late etc.

It's funny, but you're right.  I was on the MAC (Mens Advisory Counsel) for a while. I was a rep for the Whites. All we ever did was try and mediate BS inmate -vs- inmate problems. If prison was inmates -vs- the guards it would have been fun. Instead it was Black v. White, or Black v. Mexican, or North v. South.

They should separate the races in prison....it would cost money but would be worth it...Blacks, whites, hispanics, asians/Polynesians...I'd ensure the never saw each other.
