These types of arguments seem to always take the turn you posted above.
No one is saying there shouldn't be any rules or regulations, of course their should be. It should be against the law to put rat-poison in peoples pop-tarts, no sane person is going to argue against that. But we don't have that situation here, we don't have a tainted food supply, in-fact we have one of the best food supplies on earth with an abundant amount of choices.
In my opinion, the argument of simply "This bill isn't needed" is argument enough.
As far as "Governments Right" if we want to get down to the specifics, government only has the right to ensure that the freedom of commerce exist and that the market is open freely to all those who desire. As long as someone who participates in that market does nothing to infringe on the unalienable rights of another person, then the government has no right to interfere on that commerce.
