now it turns out we have the 2nd in command on a major US Vessel spending his time actually making the movies.  Including men and women each engaged in sexual acts with the same gender, along with gay bashing and other stuff.  And, after making these movies - he didn't just let them youtube it.  No, he piped it into every room on the boat.

It's like... would they be cool if every member of every ship spent their time making offensive movies all day?  Or just cool when it happens now and again?

Not necessarily. Almost every comment from sailors on that ship has been in support of the guy and talked about the morale boost it was. Now I'm not capable of putting a dollar sign on morale and I doubt anyone on here is, either, so whether it was a waste of money or not is debatable.

I care about Morale too, but I think that there's better ways to boost morale... even if they cost a few bucks.

I heard on the radio that many of his sailors loved this guy and think he is getting a raw deal.  

If the guy ran the ship aground or smashed it into a port, I can understand why he would be relieved, but I'm still ok with him.

This guy broke a shitload of Navy rules.  The rules are in place for a reason - so scores of enlisted people who are gay, religious, or just plain offended by video of dudes grinding on dudes - don't have to sit thru crap like this.   Sure, some thought it was funny.  I could stab a kitten with an ice pick, and there will always be sickos that'll laugh at it.  It doesn't make it RIGHT.

We have about 3 million americans in active/reserve military service.  So you already have 3 million people who would care about a captain of a major US vessel making porn/ anti-gay/ pro-lezbo films and pumping it to everywhere in his ship.

Those 3 million have 20 or 30 million family members who might like to know.

You have 25 million veterans in america.  They have families too that took pride in what that service stood for.


There are probably 30 or 40 highly religious americans.  You probably have 20 million gay americans.  

So, I'm guessing there is a large group of people who are interested in this.

Patton was the fucking man.  From shooting two of Pancho Villas men on the border, the getting shot in WW1, to cxompetin g in the Pentathlon on the Olympics, the comps in fencing, he knew what it took to survive battle and knew that while he was harshe, in the end far less soldiers would be dead doing things his way, than the cautious slow nonsense of the others who were perpetually bogged down.

Uh no.  First, Patton was on the front line having worked his way to the top.  Second, it was Patton who identified the flaws from Kaserine and whipped the army into shape.  His tactical knowledge enabled victory after victory.  It was his leadership that gained the performance of those troops whilst other leaders did not evoke the same results.

You don't seem to know much about his leadership and your just grasping on an incident.  Eishehower was a great leader, but attempting to disparage Patton on a single incident is just nonsense.
