So no one actually saw the news clip that explains that the birds were killed off using poisoned seeds, which fact wasn't disclosed to the public earlier ???

This may even have somethig to do with the poles shiftig as well, confusing the birds. Now, what species were the birds? Starlings are said to be a problem worldwide, I read this in a Smithsonian yrs ago---starlings are far more populous than Pigeons (Rock Doves)...and do more damage as well.

That is a Old World bird---not really common in the US, North American blackbirds are all black, including bill, slimmer build than the Crow, similar beak...examples of new world blackbirds are The Redwing black bird...

Obviously some of the female birds got distracted by something and started a massive bird pileup midair.
We see similar things every day on the roads.
