A lot of the old timers were actually very good at them- Vern Weaver, Oliva, Dennis Tinerino, Bill Seno, and of course Tommy Kono.
Now, as mentioned, there isn't reason to do them, since AAU isn't in control of contests and the actual athletic portion of contests was dropped years ago anyway.
Also I can see all types of problems. They'd need a good bit of training before they'd be putting up meaning full loads, Most seem to inflexible to get into position right. Also O/L training doesn't lead most of time to the type of hypertrophy a competition bodybuilder would want. It's a diffent type of muscle quality.
