What piece of advice would you give to a new bodybuilder?
« on: January 12, 2011, 03:32:15 PM »
A young stud approached me at the gym during a grueling set of scissor leg lifts and asked me about the ways in which he can attain size and strength.

One of the many things I told him to do was:

STAY AWAY FROM ALL OVER-THE-COUNTER SUPPLEMENTS.

What piece of advice would you guys give the youth who become interested in bodybuilding?  Limit your input to one specific thing.

I would say learn from an expert, and if you can't then do some research on the Internet or whatever yourself, but MAKE SURE, FROM THE SECOND YOU START, THAT YOU ARE PAYING ATTENTION TO YOUR INSTINCTS AND LEARNING HOW YOUR BODY REACTS TO TRAINING.

Other than that I'd tell him to up the dose.

Interesting that you say this...

In my gym, I see many youngsters going insane over the first 6 months or so, hoping to become Ronnie Coleman overnight.  When faced with the harsh reality that 6 months won't turn anyone (without a substantial foundation) into anything impressive, they lose it and get on AAS.

Oh, and every new lifter at my gym carries around a copy of either Flex or MD magazine and has it open, on the floor, while they do an exercise.  If the cover says "build massive biceps with Phil Heath's Bicep Blaster Routine", you then see the kids doing preacher curls with the magazine on the floor, in front of them, opened to that article's page.

NEVER "BULK UP"

I think this is one of the huge side effects to taking all the garbage supplements sold today.  Most contain 97% sugar and the rest is some mixture of protein, creatine and a few other products.  Anyone will grow with enough garbage..

LIE... It is a sprint to the fullest. Load up juice up as young as possible, otherwise if you are smart you will come to the realization its a stupid sport thats too expensive and drop out. To be success you must juice young hard and fast. Don't worry about kidneys... injectibles won't harm them too bad.
