 Taxes here are much lower than the US.

 The government here believes that if the health care system here is cheap and good that this country will progress further. So the government just pays for it, and they don't pass the cost along to the public at all.

 A rich country can afford to do it like that. The US could have a similar system. But greed gets in the way.

I guaranty most of the people who say they can't afford health insurance pay more for other useless crap they don't even need. I can also guaranty that most in the inner city who say they can't afford health care find a way to pay for their habits. There are 3 in my family, myself, my son and wife, I pay $394.00 per mo. and I'm 48, full coverage PPO.

Joe, there's no real full coverage.  One case of cancer from you or any of your family members and you won't have a house or business.  That's what happens on a common basis and it doesn't matter who you are.  People who did have medical insurance found themselves thrown off their health plan when they really got sick and ended up in the same position.


Health care in my opinion should not be a for-profit business.  Making people pay for health coverage will lower rates and if they put an end to runaway medical lawsuit and put a cap on them, then health care would not be a problem.  In fact, you even said that people can afford to pay for health insurance if they didn't pay for crap.  So a law making people pay for it like any other municipality may not a bad idea

That's the problem, people don't take responsibility for their actions.  They don't buy health insurance because they know that they'll be treated at a hospital and the cost usually ends up being passed to people like me who do pay for health insurance.

Personally, the previous health care system was fucked up, the current one is still fucked up, and I don't think it will get any better whichever way it goes.  I'm going out for a sandwich
