Showstoppa, I couldn't eat a damned thing other than soup for a number of days.  Soup and Gatorade coupled with my fever breaking at night....SUCKED.

I know Calvin had it too.....nasty strain this year.  I got a vaccination and I've been lucky so far.

Funny thing is, I got the flu shot for the first time this year due to having a newborn.

You take an extended break to heal up completely......not making fun of you but when you train hard and heavy it takes a toll on your body....a good long break IMO "resets" your body and gets you gaining again.

I take about a month off every Fall and a shorter break in the spring...bout 2 weeks.

Thats why I had my shoulder scoped in September. ...all part of the master plan. People question my status here but I would bet you there are not 5 other people here that train as effectively as I do...and I'm not being a dick, I'm serious.

how many times a week you directly hit each body part?

Well SilverSpoon, I'm willing to bet that the majority of your 7 lost pounds was attributed to what we call "food in the gut"

I don't have a really set lifting routine either. I just hit my muscle when it's ready and do whatever exercises I feel like doing.

Hitting legs after a long layoff is brutal. Did it yesterday. Today and could barely get out of bed my legs were so sore.

After a six week layoff, I have no strength loss on most of my lifts. On some lifts, just a very very small loss of strength. I think a layoff like tht once or twice a year is a good thing too do.

Hit your muscles hard for a few months, take a rest for a few weeks. Repeat.

You can't lose what you never had ,I hope this helps.

I saw a picture of you and you look like some gay Cuban with a jerry curl.

You look like Aaron Baker's twin brother. But more flaming.

 Hope this helps.

cool, your split if much more close to the once a week split than the 2x pe week each body part bs. I think 6 days is the magic number, 7 can be a little too much and with 5 you are risking a burn out in the long run. I make the 7 days split mainly because that way it fits my social agenda and I dont need to work out during weekends and also I make sure I get one extra day off the limits of healing and run less risks of injuries.

But the point stands still, I have never EVER saw a big dude that used the train each body part 2x bull shit slip. 48 hours to recovery  ::) my ass, two days after I hit a muscle is when I only start feeling the soreness and from that point I need at least more two full days to stop feeling anything.
