a local reporter was shopping in my store one day and he was speaking to me like he did on air....very well spoken.....a couple of guys who did deliveries for me stopped in.....they were black.....and when he spoke to them it was totally different....when he left I told them and they cracked on him for a week....hahaha..... he's still on the news here.

As far as negotiating salary, find your mean salary for the position and location you will be working the job. Add Ten grand on top of that. They'll start low..you start high..they'll knock your experience in that area...you come back with living expenses in 2011, travel, gas, education level, experience overall..etc(the reasons they said they wanted to hire you) you guys will meet in the middle or they may just fall on your initial request.

I'm close with our HR Director here and you won't believe some of the clowns that have been hired here that come in day one six figures..etc and when I talk with them finally (IT Director) I think "how in the hell did this fool pull the 6" they are complete idiots YET they showed up on salary negotiation day..and that is all that matters so I can't hate.

This goes for any job where you're in a position of power...but no matter how good or well liked you are there will always be people who will talk shit and dislike you. This goes double when you work with a lot of women.

All the jobs I've ever had the managers were always pretty decent and good ...and ALWAYS there are people who make them out to be absolute assholes. So you can't win.

100% agree. This happened to me as the Director of HR and I was 100% for the people, yet, somehow I would always have people in my office telling me the latest rumors about me sleeping with my hot secretary (I didn't) I don't shit where I eat it's a cardinal rule for me. Or some other bullshit. None have ever been proven true and even my bosses just laughed them off.

I'm stern but always fair. Be on time! I'm HUGE on customer service (i.e. manners) and not wearing feelings on your sleeve., Don't steal and most of all DON'T FUCKING LIE TO ME!!! You lie and we're done. I'm a very fair and resonable persone.

Whatever you do never admit to the truth. That whatever your selling is complete bullshit. Make sure you pretend to value what your selling even if it's mouse pads.

Also don't give in to women ever, you give an inch they take a mile, especially if your friendly with them.

BTW for those that have ever questioned my desire to work,

I'll sum it up. Most of you know that Las Vegas has the highest unemployment rate in the country. (I believe it's still hovering around around 13%). We bottom out in many bad categories. Being that I have degrees, I come to be good friends with the term: overqualified. I was even instructed to start leaving my degrees off

If you live here, you'd know how shitty it is...Outside of the strip, it's pretty fucked up.

It's been rough but I'm glad it's over.

Learn to listen and I mean really listen to people

And the most important one (at least for me)

Always always always... when you make a decission, do these things...

1) Put the breaks on
2) Think about it
3) Think some more about it
4) Than make your decisions

You mean, there are not unlimited supply of jobs where one could be a stripper, showgirl, pimp, casino worker...Damn, somebody should have told that Puerto Rican chick from Baltimore that got chopped up by her boyfriend up there...

But, always look for something better, never get complacent...
Use this experience to get that foot in the and look for something bigger, and bounce...
