Methinks that if it's taxes that you're concerned about then unions and union member, who are also taxpayers, and pay more in taxes since they make more money, should not be at the top of the list.

I'd like to see similar rethoric on your part when talking about municipal perks to Big Business, et cetera.

sorry hoss but when the private sector is hurting, what makes you think the public sector shouldnt hurt either?

at a time when unemployment is rampant and b/c of that the money that is used to pay their salaries is lower, what makes you think that they shouldnt have to cut costs too?

Really, where does their paycheck come from in the first place? I'll give you a hint, taxes. So they take tax money from the private sector to pay the salary of a teacher ..... then collect taxes from that, its a zero net gain because nothing is produced.

What's amazing is your utter cluelessness regarding this issue. This is about the unions, bleeding the taxpayers dry and often forcing these members to funnel their money to Democrat candidates, whether they want to do so or not.

And, when public sector workers get paid twice as much and are virtually impossible to fire (no matter how badly they suck), it angers people even more.

As usual, all that "shared sacrifice/pay your fair share" stuff goes out the door, when it comes to Democrats coughing up the cash.

A number of states don't allow their public-sector workers to unionize. Suffice it to say, they don't have the problems that their counterparts do.

Let's see how long these Dems in Wisconsin tuck tail and run, when the bodies start hitting the floor, and those workers get laid off, left and right.

Only about 10% of the private sector is unionized. When I was going to college I worked in a union shop about 30 hrs a week. I had to pay union due's out of my pay check but got zero union representation or perks. But because I worked there I had to pay dues. I will never work for a union again. The union leadership are a bunch of greedy bloodsuckers.

Maybe the public sector unions in WI should be asking why the union leader is making 480K/yr. Public sector unions are a scheme to funnel money back into the democrat party, no being partisan simply stating fact, check union contributions for yourself. There is no reason for public sector unions, they exists on tax payer money, no wealth is created.

But you want to talk about freedom, there is no freedom on choice of joining a union, when working at a union shop.

In some way, I agree with all of you.

I do think that government unions shouldn't exist... You're a public servant, why do you get to lobby for wage increases and the like when private people often do not.

I do not think that teachers making 40-55k are the issues here... however, you shouldn't get a guaranteed raise in a time of economic crisis... I had to go without one a couple of years back... you can too. I also don't think Military personnel should have guaranteed raises either for that matter.

That said, there are plenty of "conservatives" who live off of medicare or medicaid or what have you... They like their entitlements too.
