By the way magicuser. Most of these threads you are making really suck.

You need to stick with posting porn pictures, that's all you're good at.

When you try to type out words it's not very interesting at all.

Maybe you are getting back into rock, Reggaeton and other music is coming up...But Drake and Kanye are still beasting out....

people act like Rock is the other alternative---rock wouldn't have gone the way it was hadn't the Hair Bands been allowed, they fucked it all up...

Yup... I used to be a huge fan of Rap, but reverted to Rock last year because I was sooo sick of today's rap, just disappointing!!!

A friend of mine is a DJ, and started a record label working to bring back the rap of the past....  This is their site, lots of free tracks to listen to and download:  http://kitchendip.com/

When i got sick of it, back in 1999, I started listening to Brazilian music, Afrobeat music, etc...there are alternatives

You can't bring back the hip hop of the past...
It's Soulja Boy's Fault!!!

You seem like a very afro-centric person. Kind of racist, but not in a horrible way, just mildly.

Actually not
Well I grew up listening to old skool R &B, and gospel, my mother would always play gospel music when she picked me up from school and at home, and then when i went to Church. But, from 3rd grade up to Senior yr I played cello. I listen to hip-hop, raggae, R&b, Soca, Salsa, Samba, Bossa Nova, anything you can dance too...you can't really dance to rock music. Well, the old Rock and Roll you could but not from late 70's to today's subgenres. I listen to jazz and classical music as well, and I am thinking about getting back into playing cello, except this time adapting R&B songs to cello...

What I said was that there are alternative, I was really speaking for myself, most black folk only think that there hip hop and RNB, but once you discover the derth of Afro-influenced or based music, it's overwhelming
It's like people in the 70's, when you told them you study martial arts, they only thought of Karate---not knowing that there is shit load more...

Same was said about Rock, it wasn't called "The Devil's Music" for nothing ;D

Face it, Rock faded away because it got away from it's roots AND because it wasn't as commerically viable as Hip Hop---Rock was for Baby Boomers, Hip Hop is Gen X and Y---when Hip Hop runs it's course it will another genre, probably reggaeton, due to the large Latino population.
Odd how Jazz and R&B are still stables---that's what you call true staying power

Actually back in my "bangin' days"  ;D  there was a clear distinction between Rap and Hip-Hop.  Hip-hop being the dance, commercial stuff and "rap" being the more serious tone of Eric B and Rakim, BDP, Public Enemy, NWO, etc...  I can remember when it was an insult for a rapper to be considered hip-hop (Fresh Prince, Young MC, etc...) .....then about 75% of them completely sold out and decided EVERY f'n song should have a chick singing the damn chorus and it hasn't recovered since.

It died right after Jay Z's Blueprint 1 and Nas dropped Stillmatic in 2001. Since then its been a rapid plunge downhill into nothingness. Nothing but shit gimmicks and recycled, pop compatible happy club beats.

Eminem fucking sucks now. Jay Z should have retired for good 9 years ago. Rap originating from south of the mason dixon line should be made illegal.

Sadly, I have to agree.  Some of the older stuff was ok, but all the newer stuff is pure shit.  Or at least when I'm scanning music and come across it, it is.
