That's the problem with science and progress. They dont really make us happier in the end. Quite the opposite.

Tv doesnt help either. Internet, the medias, all these informations, make people smarter sooner than ever. It accelerates their understanding of life and how people interact with each others. You have 14 y/o kids who are as mature as 30 y/o nowadays. It means they get bored, tired of life sooner. You do the maths. They get older, faster than ever.

I have never seen someone "happy". And if he was, it was only for a brief moment. Constant "hapiness" doesnt exist.

We re wired to do things that biologically, chemically make us feel good, and they ve always been the same (fuck, eat, drink, piss, shit, attack, defend, cooperate, reproduce). Some things you might do hurt other people even if they make you feel better. So they are to be avoided.

This is a synthesis of what every religion, philosophy developped by Man have always been saying, and it has been confirmed by science and the reverse engeenering of the functionning of both mind and body.

So wrong on many points....

I can tell you for a fact, science has that one wrong.
Whatever it is that alters it, I dont know, but when I was using, towards the end, I wasnt happy even when I was on.
I know what science says, that it is simply an equation of Dopamine and Serotonin, but I dont believe that based on my own experiences.
Now, since Ive been sober, Ive been much happier than I ever was when I was high. So I dont know how to explain that one.

that's because psychology (positive thoughts, lessons, support/caring from some else) is acting on the biologic (your brain). Positive thoughts produce "positive" chemicals.

Ah.
A lot of it was guilt, I had a very good family/support structure and I always felt like I was failing them/myself when I was using.
Now that im sober, got married, everything is in order, Im the happiest I have ever been. <--- I.E. going to survive, reproduce, etc I guess. Lulz.
