There are a couple of things you can try..
(1) Try drinking more water. A diet rich in water consumption can help with constipation.
(2) Prune juice can be helpful.
(3) If you lead a sedentary life, try walking or jogging more often, this will help with gastric motility.
(4) If the above fails, try some Miralax. One capful three times during the day (in 6 hour increments) can be very helpful.
(5) If all of the above fails, go with a stronger laxative that is still OTC, like that of Milk of Magnesia or even Ex-Lax pills. These laxatives can cause abdominal bloating, cramping and eruptive/projectile diarrhea, but they do the trick.

P.S. Also remember that everyone is different, there are folks that have bowel movements three times a day, while other guys have bowel movements once or twice a week - BOTH circumstances are normal.
