Again, it's to keep the goofs in Mass. from defining marriage for other states like my home (Florida). This is why Mitt Romney, when he was governor of Mass., enforced a state law that kept out-of-state homosexuals from getting marriage licenses in Mass. and returning to their states, demanding that their licenses be validated.

That didn't stop all the lawsuits. Fortunately, most of the courts saw DOMA and told the plaintiffs to take a long walk off a short pier.

That's why Obama isn't defending DOMA. If DOMA goes down, he can effectively endorse gay "marriage" (without actually doing so, to save face with his supporters who oppose it) by letting Mass. and the 4 other states that allow it become the Las Vegas of gay "marriage".

Really?   Obama only won by 5.7 points as it was in 2008 in what was a Perfect Storm of events in his favor.  In 2012 - he will not have the benefit of those sam factors.
