You're insane, Jones knocks out Couture cold in the first round and it isn't even close.

I would be similar to watching the Varsity take on the Freshman team.

Randy Couture could not do a damn thing against this guy, he wouldn't even be able to take him down. Randy is FORTY EIGHT YEARS OLD. The BEST that Couture could even hope for would be to get close enough to CLINCH Jones and EVEN if he got to that point he wouldn't be able to do shit. It would end up with Jones denying the take down and wailing on Couture with a shit ton of unanswered strikes.

Whatever the fuck you are smoking, please put it down.

I agree

When did Rua get the reputation for great Muay Thai? Every noob on sherdog thought he was going to put on a muay thai clinic. Diabate and Overeem were tooling him standing, the guy is a plodder, he beat Machida but Machida's stand up is very overrated. I think Rua of a few years back before all of the surgery's may have been able to tough it out and find something, but there is no doubt that he has dropped a level. I always saw him as a Marciano type of fighter, he used to win with toughness, intensity and intangibles, but i think we have seen the best of him.

There is no way that Randy would do anything against Jones, Jones' wrestling is very good, he is too strong and fast for Randy, no contest.

Bader is as good a wrestler as anyone else you're gonna find at LHW today. He is the king of lay and pray and Jones lit him up like Sev's ass in a San Francisco bath house.

Might as well match Jones with Dan Henderson now. Not much else at 205 is even going to slow that kid down.

Bottom line is Jones is the new king of LW division and no one is beating him anytime soon.  He's much too long for everyone, too strong, too skilled and too fast.  This guy is the truth.  That was an owning from beginning to end.  WOW....Like I saw a couple months ago.  The only challenge for him is Silva.  Rashad is a fucking joke compared to him.

As far as potential mega fights are concerned Anderson Silva needs to

A. Drop a few pounds and fight GSP at a catch weight in the high 170's

B. Step up and fight Bones at 205

and if that can't be worked out

C. a rematch with Chael Sonnen at 185

Any of those 3 options would certainly get my little MMA weiner hard.

100% correct.

this is what set the pace of the fight, happened at the 5 sec mark of the first round. While something like 99% of the fighters would get KTFO right at the spot, Shogun ate it and kept coming, but it was clear that shot sucked all the gas from him, he started to be lethargic from there and then goes the domino effect.

ok now that the nausea is passing and Im not dizzy anymore, I can approach this fight in a reasonable way.

JJ is a good fighter, but, make no mistake, there was something wrong with rua from the beggining. First, he tried to shake hands during the stare down - if you watched it you saw how akward it was. Then he started very slow and weird, with no strategy and looking very weak. Then after the first round he was totally, TOTALLY gassed! From that moment he was just there, planted, asking to get KTFO, like he was passing through an acute depression crisis right there in the middle of the octagon.

But the bottom line is he gassed pretty hard, and we all know since Coleman Vs that Williams dude that once you cant even move your legs anymore because you can barely breath, is game over for you doesnt mather who is the guy on the other side.

Also, these spideresque types of fighters are like dying coachroaches on their backs. So Im not buying the hype yet until this Jones pal faces a good wrestler. IMO, he will have his hands full even with grandpa Couture, as long as he can weather the early storm without having total lunge failure after 3 minutes of fighting.

just came back from an injury. he was not ready just like he was against forrest. i am telling you a 100% RUA would have won

He is 3 and 3 in his last 6 fights with his only legit win being over Machida who has since been exposed in a loss versus Rampage.

Do we tend to lower our standards for the LHW divison? At what point in any other divison would you call a guy who is 50% in his last 6 fights as being in the upper echelon?

I would go Jon Jones far and away #1 then a step down to Rashad Evans #2 for your "upper echelon" and then a big pool of revolving door contenders who will prove to be basically .500 fighters against each other on UFC PPV events.

I would have to strongly disagree here. The Griffin loss was the same as the Bones loss in that he was returning from injury and didnt look like he was even 75%. He was visibly out of sorts, his striking from the go was well off and his grappling attempts were laughable. Im not sure how much of a difference a 100% Rua would have had on the overall outcome but its logical to believe that Bones would have been tested alot more and hit several times with clean shots.

The real Shogun was the man that fought Machida and dominated him twice, the very same Machida that demolished your #2 ranked Evans and then got robbed by the judges in the Rampage fight. Did you even watch it or did you Wiki / Sherdog his W/L record because it was a straight forward case of daylight robbery - there was no "exposing" to speak of other than Rampage showing he is no longer top 3 by a long way.

The consensus is that a form Rua is possibly the best of his generation, although we are all entitled to opinions and i respect that. I would just like to give my 2c.

Rua was rusty but even at 100%, Jones still eats his lunch.

I love Rua, but lets be real here-- Jones is a specimen at 205 and nobody except another freak of nature can touch him.

84.5 inch reach, best wrestler in MMA, unorthodox striking, superior speed and stamina, powerful muay thai= unbeatable until further notice

No I will not "bet my account". I will just enjoy the excuses you come up with after Rashad gets his ass kicked.  ;D

That lay n' pray strategy Rashad's been using will not work on Bones.

Of course he's favored.  Vegas odds are based upon what the fans will bet on.

I didn't say that it is a surprising announcement.

That said, I think the odds are justifiable. Jones SHOULD be a heavy favorite, based on performance.

Size DOES matter, and Jones will hold the belt for a very long time. Rashad will lose badly in that fight, like a 9th grader fighting a grown man half his size. Easy fight for Jones, like all the fights for him at LHW. Wish he would man up and fight at his own weight though. Love to see Jones vs Dos Santos/Velasquez..

Nope. He should stay at LHW and clean out the division. PLENTY of competition for him to face at LHW. It's the deepest division in the UFC.

Never forget...styles make fights, so we'll see how Bones matches up with Rampage, Machida, Thiago Silva, Rashad, etc. Not to mention Phil Davis, who shows a great deal of promise. If Davis improves his striking, he matches up quite well with Bones. We'll get to see Mr. Wonderful do his thing this Thursday night.

I am a huge fan of Bones, but people get too excited after one fight. Cain Velasquez is now unbeatable, Bones can't be stopped and is going to go on winning forever...Seriously, calm down everybody.  :P

Ok first off..Cain Velasquez is unbeatable??  ???  Im not even going to get into that right now... Actually, JDS via TKO

And Bones will Destroy all of those fighters you mentioned rather easily. They will all take huge beating because they won't even be able to get close enough to hit him. He will clean out the division, mark my words.

I thought he said it was LEGAL, not illegal.  I don't know the rule though.
