Ron Paul really might run in 2012....
« on: March 24, 2011, 11:21:00 AM »
How many of you - repubs and dems - would do whatever it takes to vote Ron Paul in the presidential primaries?

33, you voted Mittens last time - would you vote Rpaul this time?  He ended up being absolutely right on everything about both the dems and the repubs.

Paul: Decision to run will depend on dollar

Many potential presidential candidates are looking to poll data to determine whether to launch a campaign for the 2012 Republican nomination.

Ron Paul? He’s watching the dollar.

“I’m undecided, that’s the truth,” the Texas congressman said today of his presidential aspirations. “But I have said in the past, that if there’s a major economic crisis worse than what we have now … I’d feel almost obligated since I’ve spent my lifetime warning about a dollar crisis.”

Paul, who was in Des Moines to speak at a Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators event, said rising prices are just one indicator that more economic woes could be ahead for the nation.

During two public addresses to the group, the lawmaker emphasized the importance of civil liberties and called the current financial crisis a symptom of big government.

“There’s a revolution going on in this country,” he told hundreds who gathered on the capitol steps just before 1 p.m. to hear his first speech of the day. “The problem is, it hasn’t quite reached Washington yet.”

Paul also met with Gov. Terry Branstad and state GOP leaders during his time in Des Moines. The legislator will return to Iowa April 11 for an appearance in Sioux Center.

Ron Paul wins one 2012 straw poll at GOP convention

Possible 2012 presidential contenders Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney got the most claps during a luncheon applause poll at this weekend's Caliofrnia Republican Party convention, but GOP Rep. Ron Paul was the top vote-getter in a straw poll organized by one group at the Sacramento confab.

Paul, who ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 2008, won 17.8 percent of the 202 votes cast in the informal straw poll conducted at a booth run by the Republican Liberty Caucus of California. The Saturday poll was open to convention delegates, party activists and registered Republican voters, the group said.

Romney, the former presidential primary candidate and Massachusetts governor, came in second with 10.9 percent of the vote and former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin followed with 7.9 percent.

The two could-be candidates who spoke at the convention didn't fair as well. The "undecided" category won more votes (5 percent) than either former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton (4 percent) or Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (2 percent), though the poll was conducted prior to Barbour's Saturday night speech.

yep.  that 2008 ticket yall chose was super-duper electable.

maybe in 2012, we shove those standard where the sun don't shine, we stop letting hannity tell us who is 'electable', and we choose the candidate with the best ideas for fixing this fvckstorm that is the government.

just a thought.

I like Ron Paul, but i really don't think he is electable.  Thats the practical side of m talking.  Do you think women are going to vote for a guy who promises to cut the govt in half, dismantle tons of agencies, etc?

i think any smart woman, concerned with the dire economic straits we're in, as well as the spending idiocy of obama, would vote for him.

You're telling me a woman would see palin as qualified but Paul as too extreme?  I give women more credit than that.

LOL!

Bob Barr = code for "Obama".

Well . . . .

I live in Florida.  My vote didn't matter in the dem primary (I'm a registered independent).

I am so sick of the democratic process.  I've voted repub my whole life, and my whole family has too.

but it looks like we may vote dem next time.  Just for the economy.  For health insurance for my little neice that isn't covered.  My family has it, but relatives don't have any health insurance.  I know, rich people hate the idea (label is socialism).  But when my neice gets sick, you can call it a shit sandwich, I'll be glad its in place for her.

So I probably will vote dem.  i'd love to see Obama choose a Wes Clark for a running mate, or a Jim Webb, possibly more likely, for strong military and defense credibility.

I may even be able to deal with his kooky christian shit... It's a tough call, but I could maybe be persuaded due to his stance on the other issues.

It might not, but if I happen to get some hoe knocked up, I'd like the idea she can get an abortion and those kooky christians are against them, so that would affect me.

I agree on most things it wouldn't however... and for most other laws it might actually go my way since he's much more of a "as long as you aren't hurting someone else" kind of guy.

Get a vasectomy.  Vote Ron paul.

That's birth control... They probably would start saying that stopping sperm is extremely early term abortion.

The main thing stopping Ron Paul is this notion that he's unelectable.  "I'd like to vote for him, but it's a wasted vote" type of thinking.  He needs to step up and make a decision to run because people are finally ready to vote for a guy who actuallly will cut spending.

Any educated person who is capable of critical thinking and doesn't get their opinions from fox news or msnbc would vote for Ron Paul.  He is shunned by the mainstream media for a reason, the global elites are scared of him.  This notion that Ron Paul is "unelectable" is completely contrived by the neo cons at fox news.  He is totally electable.  Don't waste a vote on a puppet like Romney or Palin.  I will write in Ron Paul in 2012 if he doesn't get the nomination.  He is one of the few politicians that might be able to save our economy and give us back our 4th amendment rights.
