Just buried another great friend who unfortunately got dragged down by opiates.

You may be good with them for a year or 5 years but eventually it will catch up to u.

Opiates will always win.


If ur stuck and can't get off by yourself, use suboxone, methadone is evil, stay away from that shit

Not heroin. He was a former extreme sports athlete who had mad surgeries and got prescribed a million things

All the worry in the world changes NOTHING. It is a complete waste of time. You can spend a lifetime and a death sentence worrying about something until it utterly consumes you and then ruins you. Will all that worry have changed the inevitable outcome of that which you spent so much effort worrying about?


Come to grips with Life and Death. Accept both. They are both equal and inevitable and unchangeable parts of "life"


Those are words of wisdom that are much easier said than done.

BTW, how much "opiates" was your 'friend' using? I have seen peoples lives consumed by their use. Others I have seen in chronic pain that could not have lived any type of acceptable life without them.

I have seen people use very small quantities (as prescribed) for pain.

I have also seen teens rail the stuff every day just to get out of bed in the morning.

I have seen people who can be come addicted to anything and everything, and I have also seen people who do everything in moderation. Take it or leave it.

Seen many families torn apart from addiction.  Seen many family members that enable the addicted never wanting to upset the "status que".  It's very important for family members to speak up and take an active role in helping the addicted one reach their rock bottom.  I've seen mothers who have sons addicted to drugs/alcohol only to "love them to death", because to them, they feel like they have failed.  Addiction is hell and I know many of you on this board already know this so I understand I'm preaching to the choir.  It is heartbreaking and frustrating to see how drugs/alcohol rip apart families and friends.  Parents who have addicted teens that continue to feed, do laundry, give shelter and money to them and turn around and wonder what their doing wrong.  It is co-dependency at its worse.




STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's too bad he go caught up in the shit, mix an addictive personality with a neck fracture (shattered ankles, wrists etc) and throw in some doctors who write scripts for oxycontin like crazy and u get a bad situation.

Not goin to say he was an angel or a bad person, just a dude who got swept away

I just posted this thread for anyone who thinks opiates won't swallow u whole if u get caught up in the addiction.

Much much more deaths from smoking and drinking than from opiates. Opiates only kill you when you overdose. If you don't overdose and eat well you can live up to a 100 with opiates. Look at those old chinese opium smokers.
It's still an addictio though, so stay away from it. Don't judge the addicts, they are psychiatric patients, even if they steal your car radio.
