ive had some bad pulls/minor tares with flys, but almost always was down to shoulder issues...

the old fashion pec deck is the perfect starter if you want to go this route, not many gyms carry them anymore tho

Personally i don't like db flyes at all. The resistance is too uneven. Little pec work at the upper part of the movement.

As far as flyes goes i prefer cables.

i know i know.... cry me a river  ;D

That's why periodization  can be an important factor in any well thought out, long range, workout plan. Usually 6 to 8 weeks (sometimes 12 weeks max) on any protocol and than a week off for rest, and on to another training system. Good Luck.

yeah it's good...but as a serious tren addict i'm way too impatient for shit like that, just change it randomly and keep both your body and mind guessing 8)

i started with flies last night...  did some dumbell presses (flats the incline).   I then went on and did the hammer strength.  i only had one plate plus a 35 and full concracted the muscle and i got a major pump.  this morning my chest is more sore than ever.

kind of hard to check your ego and just do a plate plus a 35 on the hammer strength, but shit, i am bigger than most of the guys in the gym who are 'benching 315 pounds" for a half a rep.

It's bodybuilding young grasshopper. There is no wrong way to train as long as it works for you.

I say start with flys, go to cables next, then pec-dec, finish off with high rep partial dips with your chin tucked down to your chest. Never lock anything out. Lots of volume, light to moderate weight. Train your pecs, not your tris or delts. Concentrate.

I expect big things.

Yup. Getting " big "-which everyone has thier own definition of, ISNT ALL Aboooot Lifting heavy. Of course your not going to GETBIG from benchin 135 and curling 20lb dumbells for years, but finding a moderately heavy weight with good form, stretch, etc.......will give you real good results. When i do flys, i start with like 25lb dumbells and after a few warmup sets, i already had that full/pumped feeling. When it comes too training, STICK too what works well for you.

Haha, spot on.  I saw these two jokers at the gym today, probably late 30s, trying to bench 225 with about a four-inch range of motion, stopping with the bar a good foot from the chest.  Took them about half an hour to build up to this, resting for five minutes each between sets.  But now they can go tell everyone they bench 225.

Yeh but the point is you are still going to failure on the other exercises which is more important. Plus you would use more weight on Flies anyway.
