Good post. I was on a Course in Catterick Garrison England... oh i think maybe 92 and was on a course with 2 Gurkhas, one was a seargent and the other a corperall. Both good guys although the Sgt was a bit reserved but the other we got well and truly pissed up. They are fit Bastards because every Friday afternoon we had a CO´s run over the moors which was a Bastard and the Gurkhas were really good. On the course i was on we had to lay some tel line and it was like 3 am and fucking cold and wet. The 2 Gurkhas did not like the cold.The Gurkhas are hard guys but in the cold they did not like it.

The sad thing is the British Government did not want to pay these soldiers a good pension and give them after serving a British passport. The Gurkhas are the most loyal soldiers you will serve with.

one of my best friends is special forces in the canadian military (JTF). you'll laugh but canadians are known for putting out very capable combat SF soldiers, despite not having the military dominance of the US in terms of aricraft and weaponry. they work with what they have. and are widely considered amongst the best trained SF soldiers.

arguing which countries SF is best is mundane. at that level all are equally capable and can fuck up anyone they need to. cross training with other SF in other countries is done occasionally. i know that CDN SF also train with SAS and SEAL teams.

anyone bickering about who is best really has no clue as to what they are talking about. they are all the best. a slight percentage in ability may be present but hardly enough to say one is that much better than the next.

The people in Canada are great people. We did field Ex in Alberta ( Med Hat) and i had great times there. I was a few times in Calgary. I loved the strip bars..lol. I nearly got arrested in Calgary because i had a punch up with another soldier...good times. I like Canada. Apart from that the Canadian Army does do "swaps" with our Army and sends soldiers from Canada to us and we do like wise. we also had a seargent major from Australia and i know of guys who went to the US. Heard this morning that top pay for an Elite seal (6) is $54k per year and that's after 12 years of service.
