As a natty I totally agree with you. Competing as a natural is a waste and you look like complete shite. Chris Faildo is/was the exception to the rule but I'm inclined to believe he had more needle pokes in his glutes than Bob had dicks up his arse. The only way a natural looks good is to maintain a 8-12% bodyfat level and get as big as possible. Which is basically what I'm doing. I toyed with the idea of competing but didn't fancy dieting for 16 weeks only to come in small and soft anyway.

you are only fooling yourself

the truth is that you are afraid to discover how little muscle you have; that most of your "size" is just fat and water

it is a harsh reality to face, one that took me many years to accept

when I finally dieted down my physique, though less impressive when fully clothed, looked infinetly better when ripped

sharp abs/serratus, seperated quads, and veins exploding from my arms and abdomen I looked and felt so much better

Even the playing field.  Eliminate the steroids.  We'll see who trains/ diets the hardest.

Steroid users are cheaters, plain and simple.

Period.

The truth is that I spend exactly 2 seconds a year thinking about your version of the truth. I know what I look like, I know how people react when they see me and I know how tight I look when I up my cardio before the summer and start dropping carbs. I don't want to walk around with veins popping, if I did, I be sticking needles up myself. I don't want to be at 4% body fat, if I wanted to, I'd be injecting. I don't want to be 300 pounds, if I wanted to,  ... yes, you guessed it.

I've said before that I have nothing against steroid use and certainly don't get on my high horse towards people that does inject. I just don't care enough to spend a lot of money doing it myself. Besides, I see tons of guys in my gym on gear. I still look better than 80% of them  :D

That's true.
I prefer to look like I lift weights while wearing clothes.

And feel a lot healthier, stronger, have more energy and have a high libido with normal bodyfat levels.

Sorry, I value my heart, kidneys, liver and other essential organs of living.  Seen way too many dudes with issues from gear.

Get your head outta the clouds bro.  You will have some related health issue down the road, albeit you may not be able to link use to it.

Turning something to benefit your health into the opposite merely to change others' opinion of yourself is ludicrous and reeks of insecurity.  ;D

Not trying to change anyones opinion.  Just explain why I'm not loaded with illegal compounds.

Maybe that is why the bodybuilders like Coltrane piss off the hardcore wannabees?

Sounds like you're the one doing the preaching.

All you pin popping egomaniacs will one day come to the realization that you should've NOT put so much unhealthy substances into your body.  You'll be wishing you'd stay'd away.  In that moment, when your doc tells you your kidneys are failing, think back to Coltrane on the Getbig boards.
I"ll be cut and lean with many more years of healthy living to do.  And hear my words then.  "I told you so."

What it boils down to Howard (and you already know this) is that most, say 95% of lifters are lazy.  Steroids provide a convenient boost to laziness.

And self-confidence, in cases where it was previously lacking.

Exactly. I slap on t-shirts and people's heads turn. Doesn't matter what clothes I wear, it's clear as daylight that I've been training for years. People ask me if I'm a bodybuilder. I always reply that I train for my health, well-being and enjoyment first, muscles is just a side effect of that. Never been in a hurry to gain, never cared enough to try and impress, Hence the fact I never needed steroids.

I've lost count how many times a skinny runt came up to me to ask how long it would take to gain the type of muscularity I have. It's always fun watching the blood drain from their faces and seeing the dark light of defeat spark up in their eyes when I mention with a smile that I've been slowing chipping away for 15 years. Never forward quickly, never easy, but always forward nonetheless. Invariably some of them go on roids since they just don't have the discipline to do it the hard way. 100% of the time they fail anyway and it left with physical scars of their fatal foray into the world of muscle building.

If you don't love this. You'll fail. If you're looking for shortcuts, you'll fail. Even with steroids you'll fail as it's not always the magic bullet that works.

I honestly don't think "being lazy" is the main reason here for steroid use.
Let me explain  if I may.
Guys like me and you are pretty realistic. We know that we are going to make the gains we want without a bunch of drugs.
You already know that you can maintain a lean, hard physique that meets your needs.
In my case, I know I can go in and compete just fine in a regional Mr Podunk without a bunch of drugs.
Most of the hardcore steroid users put too much stock in how effective the drugs really are.
Sure they help more then reg supplements , but they are not miracle workers.

The big difference between bodybuilders like me and you vs the hardcore roid users is pretty simple ( in my opinion).

They live the FUTURE world of what they HOPE will happen...someday, if they just find the magic cycle.
We live in the present and are happy with a realistic BB lifestyle that works for us as individuals.

I do like this assessment.  Also remember that once a person uses, they are generally hooked.  Remember they're addictive drugs.  Users will always wanna go bigger etc.  Larger cycles etc.

Lets get real for a change. No natural can keep 8 % bodyfat consistantly, that's fucking ripped man and natural at that point has already lost most of his muscles.

A natty totally can keep that low of a percentage.  But, as you say, loss of muscle is a problem.  But they can keep 8%.

Not quite.
Plenty of guys like me try the drug side for a bit and realize it helps but isn't a miracle potion.
You accept you can make reasonable gains without the risk and health issues and go off all or most of it and enjoy the lifestyle.
