Let's go!!!!!!! I promise you right now I will downright annihilate anybody on this board, 32nd note 6 string arpeggios from 1st to 24th fret , tap sweeps and ridiculous legato!

I used to play Yngwie and Symphony X for fun!

How many rock guitar players does it take to change a light bulb?

20.

1 to do it...

...and 19 to complain about how much better they could have done it.

How do you get a blues guitarist to turn down

Put a chart in front of him.

Tell that to Charlie Baty.

Ask someone that can read charts to play authentic blues, without sounding like Mayall-like Clapton. Or Clapton period.

Clapton rarely plays like that live. I'm not an aficionado of all things Clapton, but I know he doesn't sit down acoustically every night and play Robert Johnson.

Even if he were, most of today's rock mutts would still end up playing like Coco Montoya- hell of a nice guy, but what he does is not blues.

And if one would want my opinion on what is and is not blues, that's a whole can of worms outside of this thread.

dumbles are the most overrated thing in the rock gearhead world.  not a good sound to me... meant for 40 year old dudes who like adult contemporary.

Went & saw this fellow several years ago. He was tearing up Django licks at the age of 18. Gypsy jazz at its best.
