i m 6'0 with relatively long legs

and i can confirm that squats don t work for me as good as for shorter guy s

maybe squats aren t needed for any bodytype to get full leg development

i squated for over a decade - because i wanted to be a "strong bb" (fuck)- but have totally stoped now and wont do them again

i think leg press and lunges are best for legs

i can also say that hacks are relatively stressfull for my knees, so i don t do them

also i do not do less than 10-12 reps for legs, most sets are around 12-15 sometimes 25
getting the blood in the muscle is key

musclecenter, i think you've said you have lower back problems?

i can see why.  your lower back is rounding brutally at the bottom of your squats.  i have the same problem.

your pelvis shouldn't rotate like that at the bottom of a squat!!!

have any of you used the horizontal type hacks, the ones with the weight stack at the side, and the foot platform vetical?... for me this was a pure quad exersize, totaly knee pain free, only problem is the stacks are usualy too light when you get used to them...

we used to do 20 to 30 rep sets to finish quads off, huge squeezes, a slight pause at the bottom of the descent ,  brutal pumps!!!!

The link I posted was to an article I wrote a few years ago, it details why I think some exercises are outdated, and dont make much sense, while there are plenty of other options for those with enough brains to think for themselves

It's the gh15 mantra: Train like a pussy and up the dose if you want to look like a bodybuilder!!

All machines and light weight baby!! (oh and lots of hormones).


I said it before and i say it again: A bodybuilder only has to LOOK like he can lift lots of weight, if you can grow on a pink dumbell, all the better for you. Only go as heavy as you have to to keep growing, NEVER max out on your lifts, it's just an ego and injuries waiting to happen.

When you're on stage, nobody will ask how much you bench, and most people that ask you don't have a clue about lifting and a cousin that benches more than you anyways.

good article...i agree 100% on the deadlifts and behind the neck presses. Useless for bbing

So and so on the squats and bbrows..bb curls and french presses..(if those last 2 dont bother your elbows or wrists, do them)

I think I read it back in the late 90s in Ironman - pretty sure it was with chick on the cover - I'll dig it out and see, I pretty much have been following chicks advice since reading that article other than squats as they work for me but I keep my reps above 10 and go as heavy as I can as long as I get over 10 reps.

squats were natural for me .. same with leg shape and developement

I would never ever recommend going heavy .. I cannot squat shit right now... my back is fucked up badly
